Anybody else pretty much give up on the groups

and just hanging out in the lounge?

I joined a couple groups and posted some stuff there, but now I mainly hang out in the lounge. It's too much work to go back and forth!

1. I'm not really active, but...

I did find that adding them to 'my groups' makes it much easier to get to them, and hence more likely that I will browse/post there!

it's hard enough to watch my threads drop in one forum :)

4. Well yeah they are slow

the pages never move for days it seems. someone posted for a recipe in the lounge and got more replies than 90% of the threads in the cooking group.

same with the sports threads, they get more replies here than over there.

I've tried too but it sucks when nothing moves. Must be the gold star posting rule

5. I think some groups will work better than others

and some will die out while other flourish. It's not a value judgement, just how it works online.
I am enjoying the DFA group and the spirituality etc forum. I also lurk in some others.

6. Oh ,, and the Pa state forum is cooking pretty well

we seem to be very interested in working on the 2006 senate and congressional races. We are leaving the speculating about 2008 presidential to the dilettantes. I am gratified that people are thinking about the smaller races and what it means to win or lose them.

8. You have to give some of these Groups time to develop.

It's important to call attention to them and remind folks that there're are other avenues of conversation.

9. I Like the Idea

but there are too many subdivisions. It's the natural outcome of the structure. Just like the state forums -- there are only so many people in Maryland, not not all care passionately about state-level issues.

I hope the groups do OK. I'd like to give it a little longer.

They're good for topic-specific items. For general buffoonery I come to the Lounge.
