1. Good luck! I've had so many of those
They are not painful but boy are they kinda creepy. Maybe it's just me.

I hope that you are okay. I'll include you in my prayer list tonight if that's okay. :)

8. Oh, I hate that feeling, too!
I'm sure that you will be okay and that it will turn out to be stress brought on by this stupid election. :p to Bush for all of this mess!

Let us know how it goes. I know that you won't get your results tomorrow but let us know how you are doing.

21. Dr. said maybe my uterus was larged b/c I was stressed during
the exam (I know, guys; wayyyyyyyyy too much info.); she's a 'better safe than sorry doctor.' Oh, she's also a liberal Democrat (we actually got off-topic and got to talking about the election a few visits ago, when I had some other medical issues going on).

27. Nah. We all have what I call "plumbing problems" at one time
or another. No big deal. It IS better to be safe than sorry. Glad your doctor feels that way.

17. That sounds about right.
I had one done at the Mayo Clinic. When they got done with the regular ultrasound, they told me the tapes weren't good enough and they wanted to use the probe.:scared:

Anyway, good luck tomorrow.

26. Seriously, good luck.
I had a hysterectomy two years ago for endometriosis gone wild.
There are some newer, less invasive treatements now for uterine fibroids. Condoleeza Rice just had this done, FYI, if you want to track down more info.

23. I'll trade good thoughts with you
I have to go for a CT scan tomorrow morning, due to severe headaches. My doc says it's likely just stress, but wants to rule out any other causes. (I'm 99% sure it's stress...because they started November 3rd.)

I know they don't hurt or anything, but I am a little wigged by the idea of having my brain irradiated.

24. An ultrasound story
I needed to get an ultrasound. I had plenty to drink before I got to the hospital, but after the tech took the first look, she said I needed to drink more. I did. She checked again. Still more.

40 glasses of water later, she said I could stop. Unfortunately, I soon went from enough to too much. She asked me to let a little bit out. I went to the bathroom and did as I was told. And believe me, letting a 'little bit' out when your bladder is that full is not easy. She then asked me to let a little bit more out. I kid you not. The whole afternoon was hell.

You don't even want to hear about a vaginal ultrasound - very weird.

39. I had a similar experience
had a D & C under anesthesia first, so I was REALLY thirsty when I woke up, couldn't get enough water. Then they took me for the unltrasound, and the technician started doing her thing, and she said "Oh, my, do you need to go the bathroom." I said yes, but I could hold it--I was still thirsty and all I could think about was getting more water to drink. She finally had me get up and go pee "a little bit and then stop". It was hard to stop, but I did it, and it was probably easier because I still had my mind on getting more water to drink! It was really funny. It was an hour trip home, and halfway, we stopped at a Sonic and got a half-gallon size limeaid, and I had drunk all of it before we got home! All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. (The surgery later for ovarian cyst was a bad experience! ha)

25. Oh, I've had several of those
I do have fibroids, and this exam is a pain, but not painful. Hopefully, you'll get a good female tech who's been there and done that, will work fast and get you off the table and down the hall to the bathroom in no time. (My first was done by a male doc, and damned if that idiot didn't keep me on the table after the exam trying to explain to me what he'd found, while I was ready to burst and totally incapable of listening to him! If you get one of those, tell him "Excuse me, I'll discuss this with you after I've peed!")

If they have to use the probe, they'll let you empty your bladder first, so it's not that bad. Plus, where I go, you insert the probe yourself, while covered by a blanket, so it's no biggie.

Good luck!

37. It's not so bad
You'll be fine. I had masses so big that he then did a biopsy to check for cancer. That is NOT pleasant. You can actually feel the inside of your uterus being scraped, little pinch my ass!!!

My mom had been sick for months then died, so my stress levels were through the roof. I was still having problems but just dealt with it.

However, after I became a vegetarian, I became *much* better. I started eating a ton of soy, which has natural estrogen, and that seems to have evened out my hormone balance.

I do have a few bad months, often brought on by stress, but they are few and far between.

Good luck and know that there are many options available for you and try the least invasive ones first.

I couldn't even talk about it for the first two years because it hurt so bad. Time really does help you heal.

I've been able to work through a lot of past issues this year and getting ready for a brighter future (well, with the exception of bringing the entire country crashing down around us.)

42. Update: My ultrasound this morning
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 06:28 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
I had my ultrasound this morning (...oh, and the jelly was warmed up), and the tech said she didn't see any swelling (enlargement) of my uterus. Just when I thought I was "out of the woods," so-to-speak, she goes, "Let me go ask the doctor...we may want to do the probe." Oh, man.... I told her that MY doctor had specifically said I was to come only for the ultrasound, but you know how it goes...they act like you're lying or something.

The funniest thing is before the procedure, she turned down the lights, and I said, "Where's the Barry White music?" She managed to crack a smile, but I don't think she was too amused. Geez...trying to break the ice here! The tech seemed to indicate that everything looked normal (boy, when they say probe, they mean it!?).

Thanks for your support last night everyone. I didn't sleep well and I was super nervous, but your words of kindness did help a lot.
