remember the first time you saw a cell phone

I was real impressed,it was in a brief case and the guy looked like he came from a different planet.
a few years ago i saw a woman talking to herself like she was out of her mind,then noticed the tiny mic and ear piece,she was moving her hands and blabbing away really loud but didn't seem to be embarrased.If i have to make a cell call i hide behind a tree.

1. Yes.

I wasn't impressed. They were tiny, people kept saying "What? What? What?" Even now I can't get a cell phone to work at home, because of the mountains. And I don't want any more stupid towers on the tops of hills. The reception is lousy, the possible health problems worrisome, and the bills outrageous (have to pay them for my company). End of rant.

8. In the mid eighties.......

Saw a real cell phone for the first time. I was working at a furniture store and this guy pulls up in a Jag and hops out with a large briefcase and is talking into a handset attached to the case. I felt sorry for the guy, he couldn't go anywhere without being in communication at all times.

Here it is 20 years later and I feel the same way. I prefer to be hard to reach.

9. I have a question about car phones...

... from the 1980s. I have forgotten the technology involved. Is there any reason why they had to remain in cars? I don't remember anyone talking on a cell phone outside a car until about 1995, and then they were all over the place. Did car phones actually have to be plugged in somewhere inside the car? I don't remember.

Carphones have been around for a long while, though. I saw one just the other day in an episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies."
