How do I get the black layer of cripsy leftover vegtable matter that is stuck like cement to the bottom of the pan off?

1. Soak w/soap and HOT water
For an hour or so, scrape with something solid (metal spatula, etc.)

2. This sounds crazy but it works -
tomato sauce. Let a can of tomato sauce simmer over low for a while, and the burnt black stuff will come right off.

12. I swear it works!
I was ready to throw out a very nice saucepan after popcorn was scorched in it. I found this tip, tried it and the pan looks brand new. After a couple of hours, if it still isn't completely clean, just let it sit out overnight with the sauce in it. It will be very easy to scrape off any remaining stuff.

3. add water, boil repeatedly
Or, borrow a neighbor's oxy-acetylene torch, and burn the mess into ashes. I've always found suphuric acid to be a handy housecleaning time saver.

At last resort, use it to cook a meal for a freeper, and tell him to keep the pot.

9. Coffee grounds.
Spread coffee grounds (while they are still wet) over the bottom of the pan. Leave the coffee grounds in overnight, in the morning everything should come right off.

11. spray some Easy Off (low odor) onto it and let it soak for about an hour
(just don't keep it where the fumes will irritate your lungs) - it will come right off.

15. Tip
To quickly clean burned food on a pan, add some dish soap and 1/2" of water. Bring to a boil, then let the liquid cool in the pan. The burned food will be easy to remove.
