Is anyone else having a string of bad luck since the election?
I saw Will Pit say that he got smashed in the face with a brick on election night, so obviously it's not just me. But jebus, when will it end?

I was a basket case for the first couple of days (duh) and wasn't even eating hardly anything. I finally, on day 3, decided that I was hungry. We got some Chinese food, and I held the fortune cookie in my hand and stated, "this had BETTER be good!!" I opened this:

Lovely.

The day after that, I almost got into a car accident. I was sitting at a stop sign glaring at the two Bush/Cheney signs that were flanking each side of the road and feeling the rage building. I look, turn on to the main road and some idiot in the far lane decides that he's going to switch lanes at that very moment. It was one of those near-misses that leaves you tingly and driving with the 'shaky leg syndrome".

Nice.

Random yuckiness continues daily for a couple more days - from forgotten appointments to a run-in with the IRS (long story, now resolved). Every day since the election is sucking ass on multiple levels.

Then the kicker - I fall down the stairs. And I don't mean one of those pussy slide-down-a-few-steps-on-your-ass falls, I mean FALL. One shade removed from a head over heals job fall, almost down the entire length of the stairway. I don't think I've done that since I was 4. I had bruises and felt like I had been whipped with chains for a couple of days.

So far today, nothing horrible has happened yet... but the day is young!

1. Dude! Me too!
I work freelance, and I had a major sweet job simply vanish on me, in a way that never happens. It would have made my month, and now my month is terrible.

I had another job go away because the client had a suicide in their immediate family!

Then my lovely digital camera suddenly quit working.

Then I got a ticket for my license plate being expired because they sent the renewal form to the WRONG address and I had to go pay that. Turns out I had parking tickets I didn't know about and I had to pay the huge fines on them, so I got mugged to the tune of several hundred bucks unexpectedly ....

And a million other little piddly-ass annoying things, like my coffeepot suddenly fritzing out and shit like that.

Yeah, it's been one fucked up month.

I'm glad you posted this, because I thought it was just me!

4. I get spiritually tin-foily at times like this
I think that we're slipping into some alternate-universe reality where what we think of as the "old rules" of the universe don't apply.

LIke some kind of nightmare, where you've gone back in time and stepped on the butterfly, and now you've returned to what you thought would be the "present" but it's an evil, turn-for-the-worse version.

I really feel that that's what happened when Bush got selected the first time.

I felt like I'd slipped into an alternate universe. Trouble is, how do you get out of it?

6. You would think that sympathy karma would kick in
But no, our days have been filled with comments like "well THAT fucking figures" and stories that include the phrase "and to add insult to injury..."

10. Hi nonconformist,
I found out my Dad had a heart attack on election day morning. I prolly should have taken that as a harbinger of what was to come.

My Dad had an angioplasty last week and is home now resting up and doing very well.
