teach1st's bachelor tip of the day
Gentlemen, after the dishes have been piled loosely in the sink for a few weeks and have become indistinguishable from the coffee grounds and ashtray contents dumped loosely over them, finally cleaning the dishes (ie, your mom is coming over) becomes difficult.

Don't despair. A cup of household bleach thrown into the a sinkful of steaming hot water really gets things clean without scrubbing. You may have to rinse off the coffee grounds and cigarette butts by hand, though.

Rinse carefully, don't breathe the fumes, may be harmful to silverware. Satire - don't try this at home

1. Why pile your dirty dishes in the sink? That's what backyards...
...are for. I'm supporting the careers of future archeologists.

2. I swear my mom would find the dishes in the backyard..
...and then I'd be in for it!

I switched to paper plates. One problem, though - paper plates don't hold up well after weeks in the sink.

4. really gotta be careful
with that bleach. make sure you are the only one pouring things in the sink. when i was in college we had a similiar sink problem complete with maggots. someone poured ammonia into the coctail and let it sit, then i poured bleach later. voila - deadly clorine gas.

:nuke:

5. Some other quick tips...

The further back in the refrigerator food is placed, the longer it can rot without being thrown out.

Save on laundry - turn once-worn t-shirts, socks, and underwear inside out for a fresh new start.

The floor is a perfect place to keep dirty underwear and socks. Don't let any woman tell you different.

Scratches on the furniture? Who cares?

Wrinkled shirt? Who has an iron? Hang the wrinkled garment in the shower and keep the hot water running until the hot water is all used up. Works best if YOU take a shower at the same time and put the shirt on without toweling off.

7. I know...
...they just don't know a good thing when they see it.

Actually, I married and divorced young, after which I raised two daughters by myself. I was a pretty good homemaker back then, even cooking and folding socks. Now that both my daughters are grown and have families of their own, I'm finally enjoying the bachelor life.
