Are the Printer Cartridge Recycling programs a good idea?
I've heard a lot of advertising from companies that accept used printer cartridges that they recycle for fundraising purposes. I didn't know if this was some ploy by the big companies to cut corners or what and wanted some suggestions on charities that use this method. I have multiple cartridges laying around and would like to put them to constructive use.

1. Check with your local school.
They often collect toner & ink cartridges and receive money for doing so.

4. My local school doesn't...
We are a "rich" district and I guess they don't worry about a dollar here or there...Any other suggestions? Are the "save the rainforest" ones a bunch of BS or not?

2. Don't give them cartridges that have printed confidential docs.

5. I used to work for office depot
we would take used printer cartridges, give the customer a free ream of paper, and then ship them away so OD could fill them with ink and sell them at the store (as the generic brand). just don't give them to OD...awful company

6. Recycle of printer cartridges
We did this for our school when I was there, -- wasn't worth the hazzle. We eventually dropped out of the program, the shipping, the amount of cartridges needed to receive anything was not worth time plus we just did not have the space to store he cartridges.
