12. About the closest thing to it. The shoes are actually fairly comfortable
if you've got thick socks, and the dutch make awesome cheese in addition to some of their superb 'agricultural' products. :smoke:

13. yes, ive been before
but just once. I had a really good time in Amsterdam. There is A LOT to do there--other then tasting the fine agriculture products.

The museums are great...and that park in the middle of town is fun too.

and they did have some mighty fine :smoke:

16. and live, from what i hear
i was just passing through when i backpacked across Europe.

yea, places where they allow INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES are almost Utopian--legalized prostitution, legalized "natural" drugs (pot, shrooms, hash), and legalized marriage for any two people who want to enter into that type of contract.

wow...if only we could take a clue....even a smaller one from Canada!

18. We could learn so much from the Netherlands
The problem is too many Americans have a 'we don't need anything from those foreign countries, we're America! Woo!' attitude. You don't see any of these problems the fundies predict as a result of gay marriage. I'd say the Netherlands is just as family oriented as any other industrialized nation. So many of my dutch friends are revolted when I tell them about the 'Christian' right in America, and how so many of our citizens are unemployed and/or without health care. Many just don't understand how we could stand to let that happen.

19. tyranny of the majority.
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 05:13 PM by MadAsHellNewYorker
tyranny of the majority.

Not all American people are bad, but leaders know how to scapegoat minorities to gain power with an oppressive majority. Things like "god" "religion" "morals" and "values" are all the veil that people fight for when they don't realize they are being sucker-punched by those telling them to fight for those things.

Also, I think its size. America is so big, a message needs to be "Good v. bad" cause nuance doesn't seem to get across to most people here.

My British friends are just as shocked and appalled when they hear about the fundies and the right.

20. Yeah, we need to be as blunt as a hammer to really get our message through
Hopefully things will change if the left works at it enough. If we show the human side of how those policies professed by the right as ones that are 'necessary' for America hurt people at home and abroad . . . I think that in itself can have a great impact. Of course the real right-wingers will just shrug it off, but we're after the ones in the middle after all. :D

21. exactly
showing the truth of the actions will hopefully make the ones who haven't drank too much of the kool-aid (read evangelicals/fundies) realize what they are doing is a bit WRONG. we hope....

14. I used to have a bong
and a killer bong it was. We moved from the city back to the country when I was seventeen to keep the evils of city life away. Ir wasn't long to discover the local drug culture, small as it was and introduce them to a new way of smoking reefer. BONG BONG BONG their lungs exploded, their eyes watered, and everyone fell in love with the Bong.
