A few years back, several bars in here Vancouver had web cams and computer terminals/monitors, linking up to bars Europe, where one could meet other people in real time, play "sexy" games, etc.

They were a dismal failure because a) Why pound on a keyboard, talking to some babe in Amsterdam, when there's a sexy blond sitting right next to you, and b) "You're in a bar - drink beer, dickhead."

Needless to say, it was a dismal failure; a failed marketing attempt. There is, however, an enormous bar/disco in Moscow that really gets into this stuff (15 monitors/keyboard, "in-house" cruising, etc.)

I go to my local to "press the flesh".
