Help!! I've got the mold!!
Bleargh!! I'm preparing to move, and went into the basement to retrieve the winter clothes to start packing them. They were in heavy gauge black garbage bags AND boxes. When I opened them upstairs quite a lot of them are covered in grey fuzzy dank-smelling mold!! I can't afford to replace them all, it's mine and my girls' entire winter wardrobes! :(

Any suggestions, laundry tips, whatever? Oh man I am soooooooo bummed!!

1. Wash What You Can In Bleach
There are some good oxyegnatiated bleaches out now that will clean the mold and possibly kill the spores.

2. If it's gray and fuzzy, it may come out in the wash.
I'm not a laundry expert. Just be careful if there is mold that is black/green and slimy. Could have a dangerous bacteria in it (I think it's called staccybottrus (sp?)

5. Oooh thanks!!
That second one with the Borax idea sounds good. I can't imagine that would be too expensive, which is good as I'm b-r-o-k-e. (I wonder if the sell that at a regular store?) Anyway, thanks again, I'll definitely try it! :D

7. And don't store them in plastic bags at your new place.
Especially not in a basement, which will tend to be damp. The plastic seals in the damp and makes a wonderful environment for mold to grow.

Have them hanging up, or stored in boxes, anything not a plastic bag.

8. Thanks for that info dofus
For some reason I thought the plastic would be mold-proof. Not so much, as it turned out.

9. i just spent
about 16000 dollars to rebuild my bathrooms because of mold...if you wash them make sure you protect your nose and mouth from the spores on the clothes-wear rubber gloves . the mold is very, very dangerous if it gets in your lungs or nasal passages. my daughter had upper resp. and nasal problems from the mold in the walls by her bedroom. just be careful and make sure all those bags and boxes are disposed in a safe manor. i can`t say enough about being careful about breathing this stuff.
