How do you make Hot Toddies and Hot Buttered Rum?
My baby's home with throbbing, aching joints, and if she'll consent to a little libation, I want to warm her up.

8. I keep forgetting my good friend Google.
Which is weird, since it's RIGHT THERE. If it were a bug, it would have bit me! :-)

Thanks

4. Here is my recipe.
I put about a teaspoon of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon butter--not margarine--into the bottom of a cup. Add hot apple cider, stir, and them put in however much rum you desire.

hot buttered rum is fantastic---this first one makes a huge, sinful batch that will last for MONTHS in your fridge. (I once blew up my electric mixer making it.) You use a tablespoon or so in a mug of boiling water and add rum:

Hot Buttered Rum Mix

1/2 gallon premium vanilla ice cream, softened
1 pound butter, softened (no substitute)
1 (1-pound) box powdered sugar
1 (1-pound) box dark brown sugar
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1. Combine all ingredients and mixing well. Place in a freezer-safe container and store in freezer until ready to use.

To serve: Place 1 ounce rum in mug with 2 tablespoons mix. Fill mug with boiling water and top with additional nutmeg, if desired.

Or, you can make a simple version with boiling water and brown sugar and a teaspoon of sugar and a tsp of butter and some cloves or cinnamon, or you could substitute hot cider for the water.

7. My mom used to make Brandy toddies for me when I was sick
She would make tea, add an equal amount of lemon juice and warm it up. pour it in a cup with a tablespoon of brandy and sugar or honey to taste. It was wonderful. Worked wonders when I had bronchitis.
