1. You and me both. It's very, very hard here.
The tension is palpable. I wonder if this is what it feels like to walk into an electric fence.

6. I've not gotten anything done in over a week.
I've got several deadlines and important projects to finish up. My stomach is upset and my mind is racing. We have a long day ahead.

10. Me neither.
I've been in 100% election stress mode for a few days now. I don't even want to know how bad my blood pressure is. (I have hypertension even when the apocalypse isn't nigh.)

I'm in the fortunate position of being in a highly technical job where I report to not-so-technical people, though. So they hear me typing and assume I'm doing something oh-so-clever to the computers. ;)

4. Me too
I know there aren't results yet, or anytime soon, but I can't stay of the 'net...

Can't sit still, either.

7. It is ridiculous that Election Day is not a national holiday.

8. In Puritan New England, it was the biggest holiday of the year
They didn't celebrate Christmas or Easter or any of those pagan holidays disguised as Christian ones.

It seems to me that if we're sinners in the hands of an angry god again, we might as well get the upside of that.

As for surviving the day, I just keep reminding myself how much my coworkers need me to get my job done. Of course that sort of depends on what you think of your coworkers, I suppose. ^_^;;;

13. I am a mess - my stomach is a mess - total nervous wreck.
I know that it is out of my hands at this point, but I am so shaken up and anxious. Can't even keep food down.

What is really getting to me is how much hatred I have for anyone wearing a Bush/Cheney button or anybody who I think "looks like" a Repuke. (Crazy, I know). It's almost out of control.

Just went to vote and a guy at the polling spot in the middle of Manhattan had a Bush/Cheney button on the size of his fucking head. I went up to him (he was talking to one of the poll workers) and told him he was not allowed to wear it and why. He did nothing but muttered under his breath and the damn poll worker kind of smirked and said to the other guy "well, technically it's illegal, blah, blah, blah" However he did not ask him to remove the button.

I wanted to kill both of them on the spot. Luckily, there was a camerawoman there who got it on film, and probably prevented me from saying anything further.

14. Me too. I was just about to start a thread identical to this one.
One small victory - I got to hear my neocon Dubya-loving coworker pitch a holy-all fit this morning. Normally that's nothing to be happy about, but I can tell that she's nervous this morning. I told her how Kerry and Edwards actually support one of her pet causes - national service - and she sort of burst a gasket. Didn't realize K&E support what she wants, and may have realized she had thrown her vote away.
