Man Tried To Kill Boss With Urine-Spiked Coffee

There's bitter coffee.

And then there's bitter revenge.

A Skokie man has been charged with attempted murder for trying to kill his boss by filtering poisonous chemicals through his company's coffeepot for weeks, Cook County prosecutors said Friday.

Kemarat Vathananand, a pollution control operator at Schiller Park-based Castle Metal Finishing Corp., allegedly put lead acetate, sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate and urine in the coffeepots because he was angry at a vice president of the company who told him he could not drink coffee in the shop area, investigators said.

"He was upset with them because he was unable to drink coffee where he wanted,'' said Mike Marrazzo, a public information officer for Schiller Park Police.

A Cook County judge ordered Vathananand, 50, of Skokie held on a $100,000 bond. He has worked for the company for 15 years
