a hobbit on homicide
I love the series Homicide: Life on the Streets. Since it's out on DVD, I am renting it. I am in Season 5. An evil hobbit is responsible for a murder in episode "The True Test" (episode # 5.8). Tee hee, I feel such the comic book store gal right now. Anybody else think Frank is the coolest?

1. Hehe, when I saw the subject line, I knew what you were talking about.
Opening up the my File Cabinet o' Trivia: I think the hobbit's character name was McPhee Broadman. And he was nicely creepy in the role, non?

I lurrrrved me some Homicide, at least until they started "sexying it up" with your Dr. Cox, your Detectives Falsone and Ballard, your beauty-queen-chick-turned-detective-whose-name-I-forgot-and-won't-waste-time-looking-up. And elevating Luther Mahoney to a comic book-esque archnemesis was ill-advised to say the least. But I rode that bad boy all the way down, I tell you what! =)

Frank, of course, was *the* coolest. Frank and Tim, together? Forget about it. Kay, Munch, Stan, Beau: the names come to me like old friends.

But you know who didn't get enough love, then or now? Meldrick. Someone once pointed out that of all the cast, you never caught Clark Johnson acting. I'm more than a little sad that he's decided to take his talents behind the camera, 'cause he was a more than capable enough actor, and (Obligatory Fame-Whoring) based on the few minutes I got to meet him on the street across from the headquarters set, a really nice cat as well.

2. Didn't I read that Clark had been a stuntman first?
He was not enamored of acting. It just happened.

That really was an awesome show. Andre Braugher was one of the three best actors on TV at the time.

3. I love me some Meldrick
First and last line of dialog in the series came from Meldrick. Clark Johnson is a good director to boot. I watched some of the Shield cause he was behind the camera.

But Frank is God's favorite detective.

5. season five definitely revs up the motorcycle
with the sexying up. The shark is in the tank. After four comfort viewing season, the season 5 was almost a shock with the remix intro. Frank working his way back after the stroke is fascinating. Whatever happened to Andre?

4. I came for Richard Belzer ...
but I stayed for Kyle Secor. He's pretty much disappeared, since the series went down in flames. I wonder if it's because he was somewhat sexually ambiguous toward the end -- if he's refusing roles because they're trying to typecast him -- or if he just decided he was done with TV and went on to writing or producing. I sure miss that mouth, I know that.

6. Kyle is in that Veronica Mars thing
I remember beening surprised to see him in some ads. Seeing him in these shows reminds me that yeah, he had a purty mouth. I love Belzer. How often did Munch ever primary and solve a case?

9. I actually used to watch the talk show Belzer did on Lifetime.
I'm glad he's still working -- I think he had prostate cancer, I was a little afraid he wouldn't bounce back. He was moderately funny as a stand-up comic (I think I remember seeing him on Carson back in the Stone Age), but incredibly good as an interviewer. I imagine Jon Stewart picked up a few pointers watching him -- there's a whole lot of Belzer in some of Stewart's schtick.

7. HomerVoice: Mmmmm, Kyle Secor...
I've missed a lot of the teevee roles he's taken on lately, but by their descriptions they don't seem to have been of the sexually ambiguous type as much as they're of the "He seemed so normal, until they found the human heads in his freezer"-type (CSI, Crossing Jordan and whatnot).

He's made a movie or two on Wifetime, I think, but maybe having gotten married and had a kid in the past few years, the lower profile stuff suits him fine. I do miss him, though.

8. Huh -- I checked a few months ago, and he hadn't really done much.
He must have 'hopped back on the horse' -- I don't watch any network television, so I've missed his resurgence. Damn.

He's good at the "man with a big, ugly secret" roles, I'm sure he's great in them.
