2. I love my normal keyboard.
It has properly-sized keys, and it doesn't turn in on itself.

9. All The New Keyboards are Pretty Decent
Does anyone remember the old IBM keyboards on their PCs?

You had to press down extra hard on the key to get it to move,
then the spring would suddenly let go and let the key (and your
finger) go crashing into the stop. I'd get sore fingers in an
hour on that thing. Heavy too. It weighed more than a modern
laptop.

You'd think, then, it would at least be sturdy. Nope.
One of my coworkers dropped one on the floor-- SPROING!!!
Keys and springs flying everywhere and even the IBM repairman
couldn't put it back together again.

5. Adesso Tru-Form is my favorite...
Somehow no longer available in a USB version, so I have to use a PS2/USB adaptor to make it happen with a mac...

7. There's nothing wrong with normal keyboards
People just need to learn proper hand position.

Most people keep their wrists too low. You should be typing like you play the piano, so you can balance an orange on the back of your hands. That keeps your wrists straight.

People also keep their keyboard waaay to close to them. It needs to be far enough back so you can get your elbows on the desk.

Ergonomic keyboards require you to twist your wrists sideways to type properly. That can't be healthy in the long run.

I type for a living. I spend my day writing code, answering emails and writing documentation. I'm a heavy typer. I've reduced three keyboards to a smoking ruin. My wrists are fine.

8. I use an Apple Pro keyboard (one of the old black keyed ones)
and I like it. It has a nice throw an the keys are sufficiently large for fast typing. I average 50 words a minute on it. I also have a Toshiba Tecra laptop. I love the keyboard on that thing. I average about 65 words a minute. I also have a MS ergo board that I sometimes connect to the laptop. Once I am warmed up I can get close to 70 words per minute on that thing.

I tend to use the Apple Pro board more than the other because I spend more time on the Mac than I do on the Toshiba (don't tell my boss please). The only problem I have with the board is that after about six hours my fingers are really tired and sore. Whereas I can do an easy 15 hours on the MS Ergo board.
