This is a dope jam.
But let's define the term called "dope"
and you think I mean funky, now.
Nope!

1. Did you watch any of the VH1 History of Hip Hop show?
It was weird watching it because it condensed the same reaction I had to to 20 years worth of hip hop, into an hour or two. The old B-Boy DJ stuff, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash......"eh this stuff is o.k.".

Then they got to Boogie Down and PE and the political stuff "Whoa...what the....what is this?!?!?" total enlightenment crazy obsession with that stuff. Even NWA.

Then in this special, as with hip hop in general, I found myself losing interest once the focused shifted to west coast gangster rap like Snoop and Dre.

Obviously they just focused on the total mainstream stuff, but still I found myself reacting in the same way and getting all excited in the same spots.

The segment on PE just sent chills down my spine remembering the first time I heard and saw that stuff.

3. Sorry to hear that...
..well, not really. 95% of the time you're better off without a boob tube. But this show was pretty good. Again, as with any condensed special they glossed over quite a bit. But I was surprised at how good the stuff they got right actually was.

4. No matter how old the CD is
I love Public Enemy. Chuck D is a master.
