Allright Cardinal Fans - Tell Me About Your Team
i know they had the best record this year but admittedly, know little else.

tell me 'bout 'em. what are the key matchups, who should we watch out for, how did their pitching hold up over 7 games in the NLCS, etc...

give me all you got to get me 'informed' for this World Series.

thanks

1. we rock
Cards will play small ball (bunts, stolen bases) despite having a fab hitters line up. Defense we got Edmond's (nuff said). We have been here before (a lot), got a manager who is very good at "stealing" signs. Will do what ever it takes to win. So stop and look, Pujols, Edmons, and Rollen. This is also the last year that Bush Stadium will stand, so got a lot of got to win one for the books going on. Booze will not be banned at Bush stadium, never, ever, never (check out the name, and think beer), sounds dumb but beer and baseball are St. Louis.

3. One word--- "depth"
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 07:45 AM by Padraig18
Yeah, yeah, Pujols, Edmons and Rolen are the 'stars' of the team, but the team has true depth, and (pardon the cliche) they come prepared to play every inning of every game. A base hit here, a bunt there, a stolen base somewhere else, and they'll eat you alive one inch at a time. The Sox are gonna have their hands full in this Series.

:D

5. Before the season everyone thought their starters
would be their downfall.

It didn't work out that way. They don't overwhelm, they just get the job done.

I think it is smoke and mirrors ;)

9. Yes, they can close the deal.

You don't wind up with 105 wins and a .648 season average with a weak bullpen.

GO CARDS!

Every team / city has their share of idiots, and St. Louis and Boston are no exceptions.

Ignore the morans, and let's concentrate on baseball!

"Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!!!"

Here's to a great contest...

11. You put this thread up NOW? Are you avoiding a certain
individual who can't post during the day and who really would have something to say to you on the subject? ;)

14. Cards are the team of middle America. Sox-team of the elites
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 10:01 AM by Edwardsgroupie
The good salt of the earth folks...those who know how to grow tomatoes, operate chain saws, do basic wiring, don't swear, don't throw bottles onto the field, and love their Cardinals will be facing the team of the pinhead elites who have to call the plumber to stop a drip, who can't drive a stick, whose kids all play soccer in leagues where self-esteem is promoted ahead of ball skills, whose kids play in prearranged play groups with kids named Emily, Anderson, and Brie, who are priveleged...aka Red Sox fans.

Go Cards.

16. Please Don't make assumptions about who Sox fans are
Now, Now, while it is true that Western Suburbs of Boston are filled will elites, You need to understand that Red Sox Nation is not just Boston.
Don't forget the hard working fisherman and Lobster man on Cape Ann who love the Sox.
Red Sox Nation is filled with hard working blue collar men and women from New Hampshire , Maine, Vermont, and Nova Scotia. Folks who know how to drive a stick and fix everything with Duct Tape.
Red sox are loved in central Maine, one of the poorest regions in the nation when you consider the cost of heating oil.

As for St Louis Fans, I remember them coming up last year to watch the Cards play the Sox , and all I could think of was how much they loved their team and how polite they were. I hold nothing but respect for them.

Now Edwardsgroupie do you really think these things about Sox fans, Or are you just spreading GOP rhetoric that the Northeast is filled with nothing but Elite Liberals.

Go Sox.

What a Series, it could not have happened to a better collection of Fan Bases. Both Boston and St Louis
