What U.S. channels show risque things?

I was cruising the tube last night and saw Sex TV on showcase. I was amazed to see basically porno footage on regular ol' TV.

What US station would show that kinda stuff? Cause it sure as hell isn't ABC

none. as a matter of fact PBS which does some overlap with CBC was showing something that had a guy's bare bum-in the distance-3-5 second shot, and the fuckers BLURRED THE CRACK!

CBC rocks! they assume adults are watching.

5. That stuff's not allowed on American network or basic cable TV.

When I went to Winnipeg this summer, I was at my hotel room watching The Comedy Network, and they have a funny-ass cartoon called "Kevin Spencer". Well, the characters were all saying "fuck" and "cunt" and "cock" and "shit" without any bleeping. I had never seen such a thing in my life (I didn't watch the show prior to this summer on my other Canadian visits). There were also bare boobies (animated, but still) on the show.

Kevin Spencer is now one of my favourite cartoon shows.

This is one reason why I dislike the socio/political climate in the United States. I mean, it's like stuff like what you're watching now is OK in Emerson, Manitoba, but it's not OK in Pembina, North Dakota, just 2 miles down the road.

Nothing is more pathetic than watching Howard Stern's show on the E! cable network. Women take off their shirts and their nipples magically disappear!

11. We're way more liberal up here

They show the Sopranos and the Ozbournes on Network TV up here. Sex and the City is also shown on regular TV. I know that it's not edited on Bravo which is regular cable. It might be edited on the network channel, but that would be so it fits in a 1/2 hour slot.

You can always tell when a movie is on an American channel - so much is cut out. I saw Bull Durham a while ago. Almost the whole scene where Crash and Annie 'do it' was gone. It's such a tame scene.

I've actually heard the word fuck on the nightly news (not the anchor.)

Nudity and sex seem to be allowed in small doses late at night on channels that carry "educational" programming.

That is, if we're not talking about premium channels, of course.

Hmmm, perhaps I should be slightly embarrassed for answering that so quickly. I happen to actually like the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel. So there!

Public access cable television sometimes sneaks stuff in.

I used to be the television guy for school board meetings, and other local stuff like that. Sometimes these would drag on past midnight and I'd be watching the public access channel on one of my monitors. I always wondered if anyone would notice if I punched up some risque' scene from the public access channel in the middle of an exceptionally boring meeting.

15. Naked Homo habilis: scandalous!

There used to be a show on The Learning Channel called something like "The Human Animal". Great show. It included a naked human (American or European, not sure which) family in the intro.

Well, you probably would have more than quadrupled the ratings for your public access channel with a stunt like that, from 10 to maybe even 40 whole people. I'm sure it's actually happened somewhere.
