as a non-partisan who doesn't have a dog in this fight, let me just say the reason is this:

Tony LaRussa.

Its good to have a strong heart, but a better brain wins

1. Does not matter. The miracle has already occurred.
Once God has spoken, all else is anticlimactic.

in 7 games.

I don't think the Red Sox have a left-hander that will be able to handle Edmonds and he'll be WS MVP.

4. I'm just glad Houston didn't get in.
The Boston v Houston/Kerry v Bush parallel commentary would have gotten annoying very fast. (Though it might have been nice to get a few add'l anti-Houston votes out of Missouri. This new pairing may do the opposite.)

6. The Red Sox came back after 3 losses
I don't know. They are on a roll. They butchered the Yanks last night, absolutely mauled them. The Yankees aren't lightweights either.
The Cardinals have the record, but the Sox have just moved mountains.
