Children aren't human. They aren't even animals.
Animals desire food and sleep.

Sorry, I had to vent. Many of you are parents. You know what I'm talking about. :argh:

1. Don't worry, the need-to-sleep kicks in during the early teens...
or whenever they realize they can do less work by sleeping though it.

2. You don't have a dog, do you?
Clearly you've never been woken up by being hit in the face by a slobbery wet tennis ball by a dog who decides midnight is a good time to start a game of fetch.

3. Deep breath. They are a bit of the divine, too..
a powerful force of nature, leftover angels (fallen, perhaps), and most relevantly, your very own Zen master, placed here to tax you to your limits and beyond, so that you learn more about yourself than you ever wanted to know. They are a test of your self-control, your creativity, your humor, your humility, your maturity, and most of all your patience.

6. Yes! fallen angels! THAT's it!
And we all know what fallen angels become, right?

4. Oh yes, been there and done that
As I am posting this we are preparing for bed (with a fight).

Although taking the kids for a ride does help a bit... ;)

5. I disagree. Sometimes my kids actually desire food!
Most of the time, though, they are too busy raising hell. They're very taxing Zen masters. I must need to be enlightened really badly!
