Attention, DU High School Students and Teachers!
I know that you're out there! I received this "mock election" information in my on-line newsletter from my alma mater, a private high school in Massachusetts, which boasts an international community. They hold a "mock election," just before every presidential election, and say that they have been the accurate predictor of the winning candidate since 1988. I think this is important, since schools from across the country will be participating, and, also, that our informed students on DU, of which there are so many, could use this as a way to influence the impending election. And this is a way for you to cast your vote if you're under 18!:-)

If you have questions, ask them or PM me. The "mock election" will take place on 10/28, very close to the U.S. election. I will post this, again, if I need to. Thanks to everyone who participates. I can't; I graduated, LOL!:kick:

Get out the VOTES

Every presidential election year, NMH becomes a political hotbed, making news in such media outlets as USA Today, the Christian Science Monitor, and NPR. Why? Because in 1988, NMH developed a unique mock election called VOTES (Voting Opportunities for Teenagers in Every State), in which high school students nationwide cast their ballots just prior to the presidential election in November. This November the VOTES project will take on the Bush-Kerry race—stay tuned by visiting

2. Thanks so much for the kick!
I just PM'd you that I was told by the mod that I could re-post this in The Lounge. But you're quicker than I am, LOL!:D

Thanks for voting. They say that the nation follows the voting in this "mock election," so we have to have a Kerry victory here first!:kick:

3. Young people tend to like Kerry more than they did Gore
in my experience.

4. I think so, too. I like Kerry more than I did Gore.
I think that Kerry has really energized this election in a way that Gore never did. I still think that Gore's biggest mistake was not running on the Clinton record and trying to distance himself from Clinton during his campaign. But, he won, anyway, didn't he?

6. Yes, it was close, but not that close, according to Greg Palast
Last night, I asked why Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris weren't behind bars and no one could answer me. He's still governor and she's now in Congress! And now her successor is pulling the came crap and has been condemned by Jimmy Carter! How are they still getting away with this?!:grr:

12. People have to start going to prison
The Republicans will continue to steal elections until people start doing hard time for it. Our electoral system is a disgrace.

20. Thank you, nux, I agree
We can't let this election end up in the courts or they'll steal it, too. We were robbed, and need to be better prepared, this time. These guys will stop at nothing, to either win or prevail by any means possible.:grr:

16. Well, tell them that they have to. This is your chance to vote.
This seems very strange to me, since you can take courses on poli sci or government, so should have one of the most informed student bodies in the country.

And thanks for kicking my post. I keep having to start over, since I need to keep this on the board until 10/28.:-)

17. We're having a mock election rhi but not through this
Interesting thing though, me and my brother on our way to the game yesterday talked with his friends about the election and stuff, and apparently, they can not stand Bush.

18. Well, that's cool! And thanks for the kick!
I saw Jon Stewart on C-Span, tonight, and he said that he just doesn't get why anybody could support Bush*, since he scares him to death. I feel the same way! Your brother's friends must be seeing Bush* the way that we do. He is one scary, crazy, angry man.

I have to keep this posted through the 28th and have had to re-post it three times!:-(

I posted on a previous one of these threads that I participated in a "mock convention" in sixth grade. I don't remember a lot about it, since I just didn't get it, back then, but what I do remember is that I was a delegate from Virginia.:hi:

19. Kick!
I have to keep this going until 10/28, so as many DUers see this, and sign up, as possible. Any additional kicks are appreciated, even if you already signed up. And, if you did, many thanks.:hi:
