My weimy just took a big whiz on a cop.
Evidently someone in the "rural estate" that is five miles from my house is having a big bash. Someone complained, so the cops are checking to find out where the music is coming from. A policeman just stopped here--and the music is amazingly loud here, too, but I didn't complain--only joked that I didn't receive an invitation to the party. (Perhaps it's a good thing, because the music sounds like Mickey Gilley--and it's live music--a band playing somewhere).

The cop was a nice young guy, and quite a looker--but my weimy hiked and peed on his leg while we were talking. How embarrassing is that.

Imagine the quantity of pee that this big boy can brew:

3. No, he's the picture of health...
He's done it before, to one of my guy friends. I think he is letting men who visit my house know that they are being marked, that it's his territory. :-)

9. Actually, the day we got Boomer from the Animal shelter
we went to a little park at the bottom of the hill, and Boomer immediately ummmmm "marked Karen as his own" - we've been laughing about it for years.

Here he is years later, looking strange because it is summer and we've shaved all his fur off

11. He is a (um, was a) Samoyed/Malamute/Wolf mix -- his brother
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 11:10 PM by qnr
(not actually related at all, but both rescued from the same shelter), is a Husky/Malamute mix. It was funny in wintertime - here I was in Bangor, Maine, with two sled dogs, but I had to beat a path for them through the snow. Boomer had really bad arthritis, and Al (Alinak) is totally blind.

Here's a shot of the two of them camped behind our RV. Not a great shot of Al, but it shows the "hair" difference the Samoyed added. If anyone looks, yes, I was clueless, and that is where I chose my "aliboom" domain name from.

14. Those are very handsome dogs...
My father wants a Samoyed. But we live in the deep south, and I don't know how one would handle the heat and humidity here.

Those guys are lucky to have you...you must take excellent care of them. :-)

15. And they us :)
Supposedly, Boomer (Boomer Von Gartner - he had papers, but from the National Kennel Club) was born in Arizona of all places. We rescued both of them from a Shelter in Nevada. They travelled all over the country with us in the RV, but they considered Maine home after a very short time. Boomer passed away in July, but I spoke to -- well, I won't say what agency, and they let me bury him in next to a lovely tree-shaded creek in a Wildlife Viewing Area.

6. Yes, he's wonderfully sweet--a big ol' baby...
The trying time is the first six months, when they will chew anything they can get their teeth on.

He's a rescue. We adopted him when he was three months old. He had been abandoned by someone who wanted a weimy but who couldn't tolerate the puppy behavior.

He's the best big dog that I have ever shared my life with. A great dog--I would recommend the breed to anyone.

7. Well, your imagination is correct.
It was a pretty steady stream. The cop said that he owns a blue healer, and he kind of laughed about it. I hope it's the end of his shift, though, because I can't imagine riding in a patrol car all night with that odor. :-)

will draw straws to see who has to go. :-)

Boomy was about 130 pounds - towards the end I'd have to carry him in and out of the house like a baby, but he still loved life sooooooo much, and was rarely in any pain. Sorry. I've gotta stop, getting all weepy eyed :/

17. That's HUGE!
And you are making me tear up. I didn't realize he had passed on.

What did you feed that big boy? As it stands, I am going through a 20lb. bag of dog food every week and a half. Bizbee eats like a horse. I can't imagine the amount of food a 130 lb. dog would eat!

19. Whatever he wanted - I wasn't gonna argue 240 pounds of fangs & fur
heheh just kidding, they're the sweetest dogs I've ever seen, but we'd go through a 50 pound bag in about 3 weeks (along with all the other food we gave them - which was a lot). Towards the end we put him on a diet of sorts, to help with his arthritis, but he just loved his treets so much that we always gave in.

Here's a really old page I did that discusses their eating habits:
