HawkerHurricane’s NFL Power Ratings!
It’s time once more for HawkerHurricane’s NFL Power Ratings!

The system is this:
1 point for each win. 1 additional point for every win the team you beat has. Ties are broken by record, then my opinion. And yes, I am biased against certain teams, why do you ask?

All commentaries are to be considered intentional flame bait in a effort to get responses.

Now, it’s early in the season. Injuries will take their toll, and teams are still feeling their way. Bye weeks will distort things. The team at #1 now almost certainly won’t be #1 at the end of the season… BUT I would like to point out that last year I correctly predicted the Super Bowl Winner before the end of the season! (Too bad that I was wrong about their opponent… I still say both the St. Louis Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles were better teams, the Carolina Panthers just wanted it more)

I just wish that I still had last years ratings, but alas, between my discharge and a computer crash I lost them all.

So, from top to bottom…

Rank Team Points Record Comment

1. Eagles 16! 4-0 Proving me right

2. Colts 12 4-1 Can they maintain?

3. Lions 11 4-1 Who are these guys, and why are they wearing Detroit’s uniforms?

4. Giants 10 4-1 Kurt Warner tries to prove Rams wrong.

5. Broncos 10 4-1 Class of the AFC West. I’d hate them if I could.

6. Falcons 10 4-1 They need to beat better teams

7. Chargers 10 3-2 Not bad. Not good, but not bad.

8. Patriots 9 4-0 Under ranked, but not for long.

9. Steelers 9 4-1 Steel Curtain returns?

10. Ravens 9 3-2 Win against the weak, lose to the strong…

11. Jaguars 9 3-2 Strong start, weak now.

12. Jets 8 4-0 Wuss opponents hurt their ranking.

13. Vikings 8 3-1 Over ranked? Under ranked? Time will tell.

14. Rams 8 3-2 Undefeated in division

15. Seahawks 7 3-1 Bye week hurts their ranking.

16. Browns 6 3-2 Paging Paul Brown!

17. Saints 6 2-3 Inconsistent.

18. Cowboys 5 2-2 America’s team?

19. Texans 5 2-3 Scrappy bunch.

20. Raiders 3 2-3 Past their prime

21. Titans 3 2-3 Stiff competition?

22. Chiefs 3 1-3 He’s crying. Again.

23. Cardinals 3 1-4 Better than their rank.

24. Buccaneers 3 1-4 They used to have a defense.

25. 49rs 2 1-4 The mighty have tripped over the cap.

26. Redskins 2 1-4 Opening day fluke?

27. Panthers 2 1-3 C’mon guys, you went to the Super Bowl!

28. Bears 2 1-3 Paging George Halas!

29. Packers 2 1-4 Favre can’t carry the team forever.

30. Bengals 1 1-3 Still the Bungles

31. Bills 0 0-4 No wins, no points.

32. Dolphins 0 0-5 Going for a new record?

2. How 'bout our Rams on Sunday
Only once in 85 years has a team come from farther back with less time remaining to win a game.

Sorry about your Dodgers.

7. I'm still in shock over the Rams on Sunday....
I thought the meeting on the field after the Cards/Dodgers game was the classiest thing I've seen in baseball in a looooooong time.

9. The Los Angeles DumDums
did it again.
At least they made the effort. Unlike the Padres.

Go Rams!

Many years ago, the Rams played in Los Angeles... we tried to make it a package deal, but St. Louis wouldn't take the Clippers.

3. The Eagles do rule but you have to put the Pats first.
Patriots are No. 1 until they lose.

10. It's about points.
Eagles have a lot more points than the Pats. For now. The Pats I feel will move up.

4. Favre can too carry the team. And Walker's an awesome WR as is
Driver. We need our Center back, and Jackson. Did you not see our backup Q, Craig? Go ahead and count us out...but you'll be sorry. :hi:

11. I'm counting no one out yet.
Only week 5. The 0-5 Dolphins could win the next 11 straight. The Eagles could lose the next 10. Any Given Sunday. I'm not making hard and fast predictions until the teams settle out.

5. Vikings have to beat some quality teams.
It's good to have won 3 games so far, but it's only against a 2-2, a 2-3 and a 1-3 team.
