Right Wing Email making the rounds....
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 09:13 AM by YellowRubberDuckie
Most of these don't make Bush a good person. They make him an idiot imperialist.

2004 Election Voter Guide

Depending on the way you lean, the following information
could have bearing on decisions you make November 2004.

Issues of Importance?

Gay Marriage
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry favors

Partial-Birth Abortion
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry favors

Restoring voluntary prayer in the public schools
President Bush Favors
John Kerry is Opposed
(This has never been outlawed!! WHere did they get this CRAP?)

Assault on Mel Gibson for making film about Christ
President Bush supports Gibson
John Kerry participated in Left's assault on Gibson, suggesting
possible anti-Semitism even though Kerry had not seen the film.

Assault on boy Scouts for belief in God and not allowing
Homosexual Scout Leaders
President Bush supports Boy Scouts' stand
John Kerry opposes boy Scouts' stand
(It's not fair for an organization to discriminate like this. Especially since they use public buildings to hold their meetings. I'm not sure if they get federal funds.)

Asking for God's blessing on America
President Bush often asks God to bless America in his speeches
John Kerry attacks Bush for mentioning God so often.
(Kerry's catholic. And I believe Catholics have a strict policy of not shoving God down other people's throats.)

Judges
President Bush says "We need common-sense judges who believe our rights are derived from God."
John Kerry insists on judges who support the ACLU's radical
anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-family agenda. John Kerry is
insistent on blocking President Bush's federal judge appointments.
(Anti-religion is more like it. And the ACLU is not against family. It's against people's rights getting trampled on.)

Overall Record
President Bush does not vote on issues before Congress but, based on his publicly stated positions, would receive an 85% conservative rating from the American Conservative Union if he did.
John Kerry, according to the highly respected, politically-neutral National Journal rates Kerry the most liberal U. S. Senator in 2003 -- more liberal than Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

With help from you and many others, we aim to distribute 25,000,000 of
these
Voter Guides in churches and mailboxes to Christian voters across America.

If you agree, please pass this on

2. Issues of Importance?
Stealing your money and giving it to millionaires
* favors
Senator Kerry opposes

---

Aside from the fact that a lot of this is just false, it's yet another case where they're preying on people's reluctance to think about finance, and catering to all their fears of the "other" -- atheists, gays, the ACLU.... You'd think people would be more concerned about their wallets.

Support for Mel Gibson? What the hell does that have to do with anything?

3. No freaking idea...
But the issues they are giving a crap about mean absolutely nothing.
Partial Birth Abortion is NOT a procedure you can get on a whim. Something has to be seriously wrong, and these procedures are RARE. They don't get the facts before freaking out about stuff.

5. not even a recognized medical procedure
"Partial Birth Abortion" is the epitome of a "demon" they've invented to divide the middle class. It's not even a recognized medical procedure. But facts don't stand in the way of these guys.

4. Received E-Mail from daDick Morris Vote.Vote.com...
He's sending out E-Mail promoting repigs and attacking Michael Moore's FahrenHYPE 911 with cheap movie. You can only get it through daDick's web page. The pig must be desperate for money. DaDick will soon be out of a job when Kerry becomes President.

17. I saw copies of FahrenHYPE 9/11
at Best Buy, on a table full of partisan docs (both left and right wing slants). I wondered if anyone got confused and bought it instead of Moore's real F911.

6. My responses to this email
I received this same e-mail from a friend yesterday. I searched the DU site and I could not find any references. I took it upon myself to respond. My comments below are preceeded by: Topher X wrote>

*Gay Marriage:
President Bush is opposed.
John Kerry favors.

TopherX wrote> According to Edwards’s remarks at Tuesday night's debate, Kerry and Edward do not support gay marriage. They support gay unions and the right of gay couples to have certain rights such as visiting their partner in the hospital and making funeral arrangements. I suspect that Bush's support of the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage was a political move. Besides, should we allow states to decide who they marriage or do we depend on the federal government to make these decisions. This goes back to state's rights vs. the federal government’s rights.

* Partial-Birth Abortion:
President Bush is opposed. (Is for stopping practice of Partial Birth Abortion)
John Kerry favors. (Is for continuing practice of Partial Birth Abortion & making it legal)

TopherX wrote> Why hasn't Bush's administration and congress done more on the abortion issue if this is so important. The abortion and the gay rights issues are both political wedge issues. While these issues are important to a lot of people, what about other government issues that affect our lives even more? For example, consider the problems with creating a peaceful and democratic Iraq, problems with public education in the US, rising health care costs, and the loss of jobs the past few years.

* Restoring VOLUNTARY prayer in the public schools:
President Bush Favors.
John Kerry is opposed.

TopherX wrote> Again, what has this administration done to push this issue forward? Personally, I prefer that schools leave the teaching of religion to parents. What if I sent my kid to a school in a community where many Muslims live? I would prefer that my kids didn't pray to Allah every day.

* Mel Gibson & the making of a film about Christ:
President Bush supports Gibson.
John Kerry participated in Left's assault on Gibson, suggesting
possible anti-Semitism even though Kerry had not seen the film.

TopherX wrote> Film makers have a right to free speech. I haven't seen The Passion. From what I can tell, it portrays the torture of Christ too vividly for my tastes. Did you see the movie? What are your thoughts on it? Anyhow, many people bashed Michael Moore's movie, F911 without seeing the film. I agree that one should watch a movie before criticizing it.

* Boy Scouts' belief in God and not allowing Homosexual Scout Leaders:
President Bush supports Boy Scouts' stand.
John Kerry opposes boy Scouts' stand.

TopherX wrote> Is this still a political issue? I haven't heard much about it in recent years.

* Asking for God's blessing on America:
President Bush often asks God to bless America in his speeches.
John Kerry attacks Bush for mentioning God so often.

TopherX wrote> As far as I can tell, Bush and Kerry both have strong religious beliefs. I did get the creeps when Bush likened our assault on Iraq to the crusades two years ago. The crusades were pretty nasty, killing in the name of religion. Isn't religion the tool that Bin Laden claims is his inspiration?

* Judges:
President Bush says "We need common-sense judges who believe our rights are derived from God."
John Kerry insists on judges who support the ACLU's radical anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-family agenda.

John Kerry is insistent on blocking President Bush's federal judge appointments.

TopherX wrote> How many judges did the congress block when Clinton was in office? It's a partisan thing.

7. Almost surreal...
Oh yeah and...

Killing men, women and children by the thousands in the name of God
George Bush supports this and encourages it
John Kerry does not

Ridicules American's rights to believe in their own God and own spiritual beliefs as covered by the Constitution of the United States
George Bush supports this
John Kerry is opposed

This can just go on forever. Man, I despise those bullshit emails.

8. It needs a 3rd comparative response:
namely-idiot who wrote this email. See how it improves:

2004 Election Voter Guide

Depending on the way you lean, the following information
could have bearing on decisions you make November 2004.

Issues of Importance?

Gay Marriage
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry favors
Idiot who wrote this email thinks all GLBT should be forced to crawl through the streets filled with broken glass, then stoned to death.

Partial-Birth Abortion
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry favors
Idiot who wrote this email thinks that any kind of abortion is murder and both people giving and receiving abortions should be publically stoned to death. Babies are for raising to grow up to kill Islamic fanatics, dammit!

Restoring voluntary prayer in the public schools
President Bush Favors
John Kerry is Opposed
Idoit who wrote this email believes that prayer in school should be mandatory at all times, so long as it worships his own particular idea of God. No others are acceptable, and anyone who worships others is a heretic and should be publically stoned to death.

Assault on Mel Gibson for making film about Christ
President Bush supports Gibson
John Kerry participated in Left's assault on Gibson, suggesting
possible anti-Semitism even though Kerry had not seen the film.
Idiot who wrote this email believes that the Passion of the Christ was actually discriminated against. Anyone who didn't see the movie should be publically stoned to death.

Assault on boy Scouts for belief in God and not allowing
Homosexual Scout Leaders
President Bush supports Boy Scouts' stand
John Kerry opposes boy Scouts' stand
Idiot who wrote this email believes that any Boy Scout leader found to be a homosexual should be publically stoned to death.

Asking for God's blessing on America
President Bush often asks God to bless America in his speeches
John Kerry attacks Bush for mentioning God so often.
Idiot who wrote this email asks for God's blessing in efforts to make all crimes and misdemeanors punishable by stoning.

Judges
President Bush says "We need common-sense judges who believe our rights are derived from God."
John Kerry insists on judges who support the ACLU's radical
anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-family agenda. John Kerry is
insistent on blocking President Bush's federal judge appointments.
Idiot who wrote this email believes that the current date is 150 a.d., and judges are appointed by divine action.

Idiot who wrote this email believes all liberals should be stoned to death. Along with anyone who drinks, does any form of drugs, engages in sex outside marriage, engages in sex inside marriage for any reason other than procreation, anyone who masturbates at any time, anyone who believes in equality among peoples, and in general anyone who disagrees with him in any way at all.

With help from you and many others, we aim to distribute 25,000,000 of
these
Voter Guides in churches and mailboxes to Christian voters across America.

Isn't that a horrifying thought?
Personally, I'm really tired of this sanctimonious crap that comes through in these emails, especially from the Dominionists. They literally have nothing in common with Christ's teachings. They are a hate group, pure and simple. IMO Christ would be disgusted with them.

9. All this talk of stoning to death...
leads me to believe that the Calvanists seek to control the republican agenda (or visa versa). In other words, if you can't understand them or control them, kill them. What a simplistic and hateful message that it.

10. TOO bad....
but, even though I am a Kerry supporter, I am a Christian (and yes an indpeendent with Democrat leaniings), I know that these principles are ones which WILL win a lot of votes... it may be too bad for "our" side, but most of those items matter BIG time to Christians (and there are a BUNCH of us out here)... thing is, the PREZ does not have final say on such matters anyway...i.e. gay marriage, abortion, etc... he has a SAY, but not a veto...in most cases...

I just hate that Christian people are relegated to SUPPOSED TO BE REPUBS.... most repubs I know are like BUSH, they FAKE it (religion, faith, spirituality)...

11. I hate that propaganda also.
The right pushes this pharisaic nonsense that if you are a believer you have to be a Republican, when nothing could be further from the truth. It's just another blatent attempt, in which the powers that be, attempt to hijack religion, and use it to push their, and not Jesus' agenda.

13. Amen to that!
I guess "the powers that be" think that, as Democrats, we have NO mind... when there are MANY of us (probably more than the Repubs) that believe all those items are wrong (or right) as well... but we just do not want BUSH in the stolen office... because he does NOT represent the Christian at all... as a liar, cheat, deceiver, warmonger, murderer, arrogantly ignorant commode, he is just NOT right for our nation -- and never will be. Has nothing to do with the "Christian" principles... has to do with the fact that he is a useless glob of flesh.

20. reading this garbage can drive anyone insane...
most of the email I receive in one of my accounts comes from sources other than forum posters or political websites. I think most people now use a different email to communicate with coworkers and close friends than they use for general proposes. I wipe out most of the mail in my junk account without even opening it..if coming from a source that is not familiar.

After reading one of these emails, I'm not sure whether to have sympathy or to be pissed at those non compos mentis.

14. Tell sender he/she is breaking the law.
Houses of worship are not supposed to be performing partisan election work. General discussion, voter registration, etc., do not break the law.

By the way, my own church made the point in its bulletin that they do not endorse any candidate or distribute voter guides.

25. Let's fix this damn thing
2004 Election Voter Guide

Depending on the way you lean, the following information
could have bearing on decisions you make November 2004.

Issues of Importance?

Gay Marriage
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry is opposed to gay marriage, but feels that this is rightly an issue to be taken up by the states.

Partial-Birth Abortion
President Bush is opposed
John Kerry, as a Catholic, is also opposed to abortion. He, however, knows that the procedure the Right calls "partial birth abortion" is so rare most doctors don't even know how to perform it, and that it is reserved for cases where not performing it would lead to the death of or severe harm to the mother. John Kerry believes that the two children of the woman who needs this procedure to live have the right to have a mom.

Restoring mandatory prayer in the public schools
President Bush Favors
John Kerry is Opposed

Assault on Mel Gibson for making film about Christ
President Bush supports Gibson
John Kerry just didn't give a damn one way or the other, because last he checked Mel Gibson has the right to make a movie about anything he wants. However, he didn't go to it because John Kerry really hates slasher flicks like "The Passion of the Christ."

Assault on boy Scouts for belief in God and not allowing Homosexual Scout Leaders
President Bush supports Boy Scouts' stand
John Kerry believes the Boy Scouts should do what they think best because they've been doing a good job for a hundred years.

Asking for God's blessing on America
President Bush often asks God to bless America in his speeches
Because John Kerry is not attempting to start an English-speaking Taliban right here in America, he does not.

Judges
President Bush says "We need common-sense judges who believe our rights are derived from God."
John Kerry insists on judges who follow the United States Code and not the Christian Bible when they are hearing cases.

Overall Record
President Bush does not vote on issues before Congress but, based on his publicly stated positions, would receive an 85% conservative rating from the American Conservative Union if he did.
John Kerry is a political moderate.

With help from you and many others, we aim to distribute 25,000,000 of these Voter Guides in churches and mailboxes to Christian voters across America, hence opening these churches up to losing their tax-exempt status for participating in partisan political activity.

If you agree, please pass this on.
