What would you do?
I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Short story is that I'm supposed to get fillings on the upper left, but a filling has fallen out on the lower right. And it hurts. Badly. Every night.

So, I have the option of getting the bottom right (are you following me here?) refilled and coming back for the others, or doing the whole thing Whooshbam! The trouble with the whole thing is that both sides of my mouth would be numb, and the dentist said many people don't like that. I don't know, I've never done it.

What say you? Ever done the whole mouth numb thing. Of course MrG would be happy that I would be effectively shut up for a while, but then again, I don't want to swallow my tongue....?

Side note to Zomby: If you can't say anything nice, well then...

Shove It! :P

1. Get it all done at once
Thats my opinion.

I hate the dentist and being in the chair flips me out, so I get as much done at one shot as I can, but that's just me.

Good Luck! I don't envy you at all!

3. Had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once
Paralyzed mouth for half a day. But I'm of the mind to get it all done instead of two dentist visits. Just don't try to eat until the anesthetic wears off--high risk of biting your tongue. ;)

5. I once had a tooth filled and its neighbor readied for a crown...
all in one day. It was over two hours in the chair. The last 15 minutes was a killer and I almost didn't make it. My jaws ached.

I say be a wuss and do it in two sittings.

13. I am a wuss. I am a big wuss. And when they did the filling last week
on this one that fell out I could feel the whole thing. The Novocaine didn't work...and I'm frightened of that.

6. well i don't let them use novacaine to take out old fillings
if there is little or no decay under the fillings, all they are doing is drilling out amalgam. so try that (i can't tell if you are getting fresh fillings on the upper left or replacements)
i've never done my next suggestion, but my friends love it-nitrous oxide-I hear that's good for a laugh.... :D

7. do it all at once, it's not a big deal at all... just fillings...
not like root canals.

It's only numb for an hour or so, if even that long.. it just isn't that much of a deal. The dentist won't do it if there is any danger to you, trust me.

The whole ordeal will be over in a few minutes and you won't have to build up the dread and apprehension all over again for the OTHER side.

GO FOR IT!

8. I would never denigrate your teeth!
Unless you got little Packer tattoos on them.

But go ahead and numb the whole mouth. You'll drool and talk funny, but think of the fun it would be for your kids!

17. Get it all over with at once...
When I got my wisdom teeth out (different I know, but follow me here), I had the option of getting the left two and then the right two at a different time. I opted to get them all out at once under general anesthesia. I never regretted it. At least, not until i got that damned dry socket, but that's another post. Good luck, Laura. I hope everything works out and you don't have a lot of pain. :hi:

18. I will vote: do 'em all
Like another poster, I had all my wisdom teeth out at the same time; having the whole mouth numb isn't that bad a thing. Saves time in having only one trip to the dentst. And if you have dental insurance, it should save time only have to do all that paperwrok once also.

19. I had the whole mouth frozen so that my dentist
could take a scalpel to the 'ligaments' under my gums. Even my nose was frozen, which was weird. Go for it all at once.

p.s. Can you believe I ate corn on the cob after that procedure?
