Sandy Nelson The Drummer... Ever Heard Of Him?
going through some old albums of my Mom's, I found some Sandy Nelson.

Very cool... from the late 50's. :)

Check him out.

1. "Let There Be Drums" was his album, I think....
although he was no Buddy Rich.

6. Not kicking like he used to! He lost part of a leg in an auto accident.

5. Fuck yeah! He had two top ten instrumental hits....
"Teen Beat" in 1959, and "Let There Be Drums" in 1961. Both are good rockin' tunes!

8. I think Teen Beat was the first rock and roll record my mom liked
She likes records with a lot of drumming in them.

7. Yeah, I remember Sandy Nelson.
I remember learning the blues better though, and then competing against all other drummers, and I'm still doing it, lol.

He was a drummer with some poly-rhythmic pretensions, he wanted the drums out front and he sure wasn't Krupa.

It was a novelty then, imho.
