1. Steve Ditko rules
Once upon a time I got to see a museum exhibit of 19th century ukiyo-e woodblock prints of Hiroshige. I was astounded to discover that some of the more subtle visual effects, like clouds on the horizon at sunset, had been borrowed by Ditko to use as Dr. Strange's spells.
