I Am 18 and STILL Can't Grow a Beard, WHAT THE HELL
I am 18 and still can't grow a beard. I am the only one of my friends who couldn't grow a beard if they wanted to.

And it's not like I would want to have facial hair, I don't like it, but it still pisses me off that I couldn't have one if I wanted.

I only have like 10 hairs on my chin and a few reeeeeally thin hairs above my lip, you can't even see that.

EH, did anyone else go this long without having facial hair? Or are there guys out there who just will never be able to grow a beard? :wtf:

Just kidding.
Hey, take it from someone who grows facial hair at an amazing rate.
Dont complain about not having to shave! I hate shaving and wish that I didnt have to.

Believe me, facial hair doesn't make you any more masculine.

I hate it mainly b/c I hate shaving.

Feel free to take some of mine.

25. Yup..
My partner is 32 and he still can't grow facial hair on some spots on his face. It's funny to see him go a week without shaving.

Me? I'm 26, and I can't keep my face smooth for more than 16 hours. I shave at 6am on Mondays, and by the time I'm home from work, I can feel it growing back. By Wednesday evening, I'm wooly and ready to be sheared once again.

It sucks. :(

4. I couldn't really grow a goatee until I was about 20.
Couldn't have grown a full beard if I'd wanted to till several years after that. (Well, I suppose I could, but it would've been awfully patchy.) Nothing abnormal about it, and you shouldn't worry.

5. Yeah, it took me about two years to grow a beard starting
when I was nineteen. I remained bearded (ultimately heavily bearded) until I was twenty-five or so, shaved a couple of times, and was mustached until my future wife told me she wouldn't date me because I wasn't clean shaven.

For the last twenty years I have had to shave every damn day. Now I wish I had your problem. Shaving is a pain in the ass, even with an electric razor.

7. I'm 31 and can't grow a beard
Chances are that if you are 18 and you only have a few hairs on your face you'll never be able to grow a beard. I would consider it a blessing because shaving is a real pain. Even though I can't grow a full beard I still need to shave 3 times a week to keep the fuzz down. If you're lucky you won't even have to do that.

men stop growing when they need to shave daily. You may be going to grow taller....are your feet bigger than most guys your size? Also you might have some indian ancestry.

18. Mexicans generally don't grow much facial hair.
I'm Turkish, and we grow big, thick moustaches (like the one I used to have), but the rest of our faces leave a lot to be desired.

Mexican men, if they grew facial hair, generally have thin, wispy moustaches.

are at least 50% Indian, so that could be the reason for your beard troubles.

Some people just never develop a full beard. I don't know if that's the case for our friend, but I'm betting it is.

14. I'm 22 and I can barely grow one.
I only shave every two weeks. I still can't get some hair to connect between the bottom of the sideburn area to the sides of the goatee area. I could only grow a love patch, moustache and sideburns if I wanted to, and that would take many many weeks of not shaving.

I haven't shaved in a week, and I barely have a 5 o'clock shadow.

15. I'm 19 and I can't
I do have to shave (every other day) otherwise I get stubble all over. But it's not REAL stubble. It's much more than peach fuzz, but it's not full stubble. It's thinner and doesn't grow a whole lot. If I stopped shaving I'd just look kind of scruffy, like how most guys look after they've not shaved for 3 days or so - exc. that for me it'd be semipermanent. So no, I can't grow an actual beard. Maybe a moustache. That's it though.

42. That's just one woman's 2 cents
When I first started dating my wife, I kept myself clean shaven, but at some point I grew a goatee and now she won't let me get rid of it. Oh well, less area to shave every day. On the other extreme, she won't let me grow a beard.

22. My GF (seriously) has to shave every day. Well, it's not noticeable cuz
it's blonde, but it is super scratchy if she doesn't shave, so she's gotta shave every day. I encouraged her to try to grow a beard once but it was kinda scary after a week when it REALLY started coming in.

So...be glad! She hates shaving her face (even tho I think it looks cool and fun).

31. She needs to have her hormones checked
Seriously, facial hair on a woman that's heavy enough to require shaving often means something is out of whack hormonally. We all make both male and female hormones, but it's a matter of balance. That's why some women get more facial hair after menopause.

If everything is okay with her hormones, then she might want to consider getting her face waxed. It will stay smooth longer and as the hair grows back it will be finer. She could also get laser treatments. The face isn't a large area, so it should be relatively inexpensive.

32. I've suggested that, but she swears it's been done and they're normal.
Hard to believe.

At age 44, I doubt she's going to do anything about it. She's a bit of a recluse anyway, so I don't think it's too much of an issue, just a nuisance.

26. Bzzzt. Wrong. Shaving doesn't accelerate hair growth.
That's a myth. What grows back after shaving just feels rougher, because the razor cuts the hairs off at an angle. If the hair follicles in your facial skin don't produce thick, pigmented hair already, running a razor over your face won't make them start.

First off, I'd love to not be able to grow one or at least have slower facial hair growing. I get fuzz within like 5 days of shaving and I hate it, because while its nice to shave, I am a clumsy bastard and I cut myself ever so often, plus being clean shaved is the best I think.

You should see the man now (he's 36). My God. He's my own personal teddy bear. He could shave twice a day.

Don't worry you are still young, relatively speaking. He didn't start really getting facial hair until his mid-20s.

It's overrated....razor burn, ingrown hairs, those little red bumpies....pain in the ass, from what I can see. Or pain on the face.

That is, the hairs that connect the moustache to the rest of the beard. Basically, when I do grow a full goatee, it's of the Chris Cornell variety. So I just have the chin scruff now.
