I still don't have cable television.
It's been 3 weeks now...which essentially is three weeks of no television. Christ, it's like I'm going through heroin withdrawal or something. When the hell did we get so dependent on the tube?

I'm dealing with RCN, which is my cable company. Which is like dealing with Satan himself.

2. I haven't had cable...
For 4 years. No TV at all. I am better for it. I certainly am far more well-informed than most people I speak with.

TV is like Viet Nam: Everyone has a radio and no one knows what's going on.

5. I haven't had cable since 1994.
Don't need it. The culure is dying and I'm not too psyched to have a front row seat to witness the demise. I'd rather just get periodic updates from the networks and the internet.

6. We were discussing yesterday....
The instructor in the Comm. department studio and one of his students, and we were talking about DTV, and HDTV, and why NTSC will not die, and I mantioned that I didn't have cable. The instructor worked for the Great Satan in his past, and he was incredulous. "You don't have cable??"

I said no, I dont. $45 a month for CNN headline "news", Weather Channel, "Iron Chef" and 87 other channels of pure, un-watchable DREK? I didn't think so. Digital cable? Oh, boy, another 30-some-odd channels of Shit...

My point actually was that while HDTV is pretty awesome looking, Jerry Springer at 1,000 lines is STILL Jerry springer....Content has a long way to go to catch up with the potential of the technology. As long as it's lowest common denominator shit, I won't buy it, I don't care that you can see every drop of slime on the slugs they're putting in their mouths on "Fear Factor"....
