I used to think so, too. But now I am not sure what we can believe about what we read and hear about leftist countries. It is clear to me that our govt and rich people and corporations have been slanting the news and outright lying to us for so long, that now I just assume that most of what I think I know about Russia is a lie.

Look, a Communist is just a guy who wants to merge the powers of corporations with the powers of the state. That's just too much power in too few hands. Historically, Communist regimes have behaved like corporations on steroids.

Bear in mind the environmental policy of the Soviet Union made Exxon look like the Sierra Club. Corporate America should take heed: that was a big factor in the eventual loss of popular support experienced by the Communist party. When you are told pollution is not a problem while it is making your children sick, you tend to get pissed off.
