Live at the Fillmore in SF. Around 1990? I can't remember the exact year.... but damn that was great!

1. Met k.d. and her band (the Reclines) in a coffee shop

in downtown Mpls back in about 1988. They were about to play at First Avenue. Very chatty, very down to earth folks.

My lesbian friends were chartreuse with envy.

2. When I saw her at the Fillmore she was just breaking through..

She put on an amazing show... As I recall she wore a Cowgirl outfit during the show.

4. "Angel With A Lariat" was the album at the time I met them.

Great album. Produced by Dave Edmunds.

Set the stage for "Shadowland" and all that followed.

Add on edit: I misidentified the album as "Absolute Torch and Twang". It was "Angel" instead.

I saw Melissa Etheridge a few years back... man, talk about yer lesbians!

I was in line to get the tickets with all sortsa great dykes. I struck up a conversation with one in front of me. After we got our tickets she said "maybe I'll see you at the show". I said "yeah, I'll be the guy." I was right. Me and my bf were in the very distinct minority at that concert.

5. I'd love to see her live

When my car radio first went out, I found I was compelled for some strange reason to sing Miss Chatelaine over and over. That one and Wash Me Clean... very strange.

6. I've actually seen her 3 times... twice in SF and once in Tahoe.
