Hmmmm..... homemade pea soup

Hmmmm..... homemade pea soup
2 hickory smoked ham hocks
12 cups water
1 cup chopped carrots
1 medium onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 bouillon cubes, chicken flavored
2 tsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. dried thyme
3 bay leaves
1 1/2 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
2 lbs. split yellow peas (1 bag)


Bring it all to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer til peas have turned to mush, reduce heat to low and remove hocks from pot. Remove bay leaves. Remove meat from hocks and at meat to soup.

Enjoy!

2. It's a bit of a joke in Ontario to call Quebecois Pea Soupers

But that looks like a great recipe for Quebecois pea soup. But ditch the boullion cubes. Chicken stock or just plain water.

But I'll have a bowl anyways, just to dip my baguette.

I've added bouillion cubes many a time, mainly for the salt and MSG.

Just gives that extra touch.
