DVD-R help - Audio missing in certain players?
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 06:20 PM by Goldom
Hi there. I just sucessfully finished burning my first test DVD (video). I ordered a tv player that can read DVD-/+R, but it hasn't arrived yet, so all I know is from testing it in my computer's DVD drive...

I put in the just-written disc, and the video played fine... but there was no sound. This was in InterActual Player, my default DVD viewer. So I opened up the disc, and tried running the files in video_ts, and they did have sound. So on a whim, I tried playing it with the crappy dvd-watcher that came on the computer, and it -did- have sound there.

Really, the only important question is if it will work in the player, but i can't test that yet. Does anyone know if Interactual has reported problems with sound on DVD+R? (This one in particular was +, not -). I got worried when I realized there was nothing in audio_ts, but then I read online that that's normal. Why would sound not work in one player, and work in another, -on the same drive-?

thanks.

1. same thing happens with cd's R from player to player
I think it has something to do with the disc quality itself of the copied disc

2. If you can't find your answer here...
you won't find it.

As as far as the player you ordered goes, check here

(not all players are created equal)

Sometimes it's just a matter of finding a different brand media

I just tried another thing that shouldn't have worked, putting it in my PS2, which can't even play DVD+R, cept, it did. Perfectly. Looks like it must just be interactual.
