Poll question: Ale or Lager?
The difference is in the yeast. Ale is top fermenting and generally brews at room temperature. Lagers are bottom fermenting, and do so at fridge temperatures. The difference I notice is mouthfeel. Which do you like?

1. Ale ale ale
Though I'm always looking for a good American lager.

It is all about the mouthfeel, isn't it? Ales are richer, lagers are smoother.

13. Although
American beer has greatly improved over the last two decades and there is a lot of innovative stuff coming out, it seems as if it is heavily slanted towards the ale. I guess it has to do with the much shorter fermentation time and the ability to mass produce.

3. I like both, but I chose Ale because it's easier to brew your own.

6. Actually there are a few such homebrew options.
Kolsch and some cream ales can have lager-like qualities at ale fermentation ranges.

11. both
I generally drink ales but there are some phenomenal lager styles such as Oktoberfest, bocks and doppelbock beers. On hot summer days,a nice crisp pilsner(lager)is my beer of choice.
