Is anyone here still in the New Orleans area?
What are the local media outlets saying about Ivan's path.. and how's the traffic? And how are things going? Pandemonium? Eerie tranquility? Hurricane parties?

It seems to have increased its speed in the past few hours. I'm wondering about that area of pressure supposedly sitting over Louisiana. That, and I'm wondering when the much-famous turn is going to happen.

My parents are leaving for Lafayette via I-10 at ~11PM, so I'm going to be up all night worrying. I should be studying.. I have 2 BIG exams this week, but I'm too distracted. :scared:

1. I lived in NOLA for a time...
And I know how devastated it's going to be if Ivan strike; this absolutely sucks..

2. I read the levies are only 16 feet

I hope EVERYBODY LEFT. The storm surge alone will be bigger than 16 feet.

Good article on my website.

4. I'm betting that at least half are leaving.
But then again, the Weather Channel has been so Florida-obsessed for the past 72 hours that it may be lulling some into a false sense of security. Very irresponsible reporting. They should know very well that the stronger storms are especially unpredictable.

3. I hope New Orleans isn't hit.
I had this nightmare years ago that it was pretty much devastated, kind of apocalyptic, and amongst all the destruction there were all these black terriers standing at attention all around the city. It was really creepy. They looked like Bush's dog Barney, who is cute--it's his owner who's creepy. That was only the last part of the dream. The horror of the first part of the dream was finding gruesome body parts in a sandbox that belonged to 'terrorists'. I figured if I mentioned it it won't come true because I'm the anti-psychic. Hell, I was sure Dean was going to be our next President.

5. I'm so worried about my cousin...
I hope she gets out, and I pray that she'll have a home to come back to. I hope NO is there when it's all over with. I'm so worried about everyone.

6. I can empathize..
I'm worried sick right now. And I have my clinical rotation tomorrow morning at 730am; I think I'm gonna be a zombie tomorrow.. a very sleepy zombie..
