I have 2 of them but no rats. A person asked me where I got them because she used to have one that was great at killing snakes. She lives by the river and said the rat terrier would smell them out and kill them..her other dogs would pay no attention to them.

They are a great dog by the way. First time I've ever really liked dogs. Very playful and frisky so unless you want to do a lot of playing with your dog, you better get two then they play together.

2. MOST terriers are tenacious and bold.
I think Rat Terriers were specfically bred for actually going into rat burrows...but don't quote me on that.

And in my experience...while great with mice...most cats give RATS a wide berth.

4. Do silky terriers catch silk?
I used to have an Australian terrier as a pet. He sure caught his fair share of Australians...

5. My dog
is half terrier, and he loves killing mice and rats.

My Mother had these neighbors that had rats In a storage shed, and they would come to her yard and eat the dog food, or climb her plum tree and eat the plums.

Some of those rats never made It back to the neighbors yard.
