How Rich are you? - find out for yourself
--snip
Every year we gaze enviously at the lists of the richest people in world.
Wondering what it would be like to have that sort of cash. But where
would you sit on one of those lists? Here’s your chance to find out.

1. Geez, I'm the top 1%
But since it's for the entire 6 billion people who live on this planet, i'm not feeling very giddy about that.

2. Wow...thanks for the guilt trip about donating.
I donate in excess of that amount monthly.

I figured I was in the top 1% worldwide; get me into the top 1% in the USA, so I can have a big-ass tax break, and we can talk. :-)

4. Gee, I Don't Feel Like the Top 0.5%
Just goes to show how skewed the upper 0.1% is from the rest of the world, if my annual income puts me in the top half-percent.

I know living in the U.S. has its economic and financial advantages, that have nothing to do with me. Just an accident of birth, i guess. But, it's hard to fathom that given the cost of living in the U.S. that this level of income makes me "richer" than 99.5% of all the people in the world.

I have sympathy for those in the poor and destitute countries. I donate to Save the Children, because i hate seeing people have to live so poorly. But, i sure don't feel like one of the very rich.

5. I don't think this accounts for...
cost of living or quality of life. It simply deals with annual income and where you stand on a worldwide scale. The poverty line in the US is set at a little over $9,000 for a single person. A person earning $9,000 shows up in the upper 15% on this site.

The poor in America are among the wealthiest people in the world. It is something to think about when you realize that the biggest health problems facing the poor in America are not starvation based but involve obesity, alcoholism, smoking, drugs and other things that the poor in most countries of the world could not afford.

7. Of Course, I Agree With You
I was being somewhat facetious. I know that there are lots of hurting people in the world. That's a darn shame, too!

I was kind of kidding about not feeling "rich". I've been to enough countries to know how bad things are, in some places.

So, i completely agree with you, and i wasn't complaining or whining in the first post. Sort of half-kidding about the problems of measuring relative wealth.
