Scotland Yard has confirmed it is to investigate claims that Princess Diana's former bodyguard and lover was murdered by secret service agents. The Princess of Wales made the claims in a videotape which is being offered for sale to TV companies.
Today Scotland Yard said it had launched an investigation into the claims, headed by Metropolitan Commissioner Sir John Stevens.
Sir John has ordered detectives to re-interview everyone linked with the road accident after the 90-minute tape was viewed by officers gathering evidence for the inquest into Diana's own death.
The man who recorded and owns the video tapes - her friend Peter Settelen - is set to make millions from a new film after a court ruled they were his property after a lengthy legal fight.
