Frances is still at 105mph.
This storm is sick. It has held up even though it has scraped the coast. It's still at 105mph winds and the minimum central pressure is 960 which hasn't changed in hours. I feel bad for that east coast of Florida. This thing is going to destroy the beaches and may level anything in it's way. It's been sitting there blowing for way too long. The eye hasn't even come ashore yet.

2. I heard that was going to make this storm so devastating
That it was going to just sit there and tear shit up instead of moving along. It would have been bad if it was a fast moving storm, but it just sitting there is really going to fuck shit up. My prayers are with the people of Florida.

3. Well it could have been worse
Remember three days ago when it was a Cat 4 and people were freaking out that it might go to Cat 5?

It very well could have strengthened instead of weakening, and then stayed put on top of that. I'm not a Floridian, but I do have family there, and I'm simply thankful that it weakened. Yes, flooding will still be a MAJOR problem, but it could have been, as all the forecasts were predicting, a lot worse.
