What have you listened to today and yesterday?
I listened to these CDs - all excellent except for the Tim McGraw which is still B+ level:

Steve Earle - The Revolution Starts.. Now (if you think of the "Condi, Condi" song as humorous, it doesn't seem like a dud or politically incorrect being set to reggae.)

Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying (had a great ear for material as this is his best CD. The lyrics have some familiar themes, but country often has familiar themes. The songs are well-written, and that counts for a lot. The arrangements are understated on the ballads while the faster ones stick to lively honky tonk and honky tonk/blues.)

Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous (has a perfect balance of pop and indie - and some really pretty songs. I have a big crush on the lead singer Jenny Lewis. By the song "It's a Hit," you can tell she's on our side. A great jab at Bush in the first part of that song.)

Finn Brothers - Everyone Is Here (does not disappoint.. occasionally the drums are a bit impersonal, but the CD is filled with pop/rock gems like "Luckiest Man Alive" and those harmonies I love.)

I have ordered the Sarah Hudson CD "Naked Truth" already, and I'm sure I'll love it. The new Vanessa Carlton sounds very good based on her new single. Liked Vanessa before so I'll check it out. Many others like R.E.M., Alan Jackson, and U2 are also coming out. I'll be busy! :-)

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust (with extra tracks)
Buck Owens - Young Buck, Complete Pre-capital Recordings

The March 1965 issue of Music City News carried a paid ad from Buck. In his "Pledge To Country Music," he stated:

I Shall Sing No Song That Is Not A Country Song.

I Shall Make No Record That Is Not A Country Record.

I Refuse To be Known As Anything But A Country Singer.

I Am Proud To be Associated With Country Music.

Country Music And Country Music Fans Made Me What I Am Today.

And I Shall Not Forget It.
