So, I finally had the secret krisp kreme doughnuts in my town!
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 01:22 PM by HEyHEY
The rumours are true!

This guy gets them from the same maker, and has the machine and everything. He just doesn't have the name...but they are krispy kremes!

I think I just gained 20 punds

1. I refuse to try them.
I don't like donuts anyway... but Christ... the way people talk about them, I've been tempted.

5. Eveyone I know is always rattling on about them.
If I'm starving I'll take a glazed, but I really don't get what the big deal is about donuts. Back in my athletic health nut days I called them fat pills.

And there's nothing quite like a fresh Krispy Kreme, right off the converyor belt. Umm...sugar....melts in your mouth.

Don't really like cake that much... hate icing. Cookies are OK... but I do love ice cream! *droooooooool*

However, only certain flavors. I'm boring.

6. Have some Canadadian pride! Buy Tim Horton's only!
Seriously I fink KK to be too sweet. They are cloying. I also like a little more heft to my donuts. KK is sugar coated puff balls.

I believe KK is part of a southern conspiracy to turn us all into fat southern sheriff types, and I won't support that.

Dunkin Donuts is based in boston and has cake donuts so I like them better.

15. Hey! I'm a Southern American!
But I find Krispy Kremes aren't nearly as good as they used to be, when it really was a regional enterprise.

I'd rather see my money go to Eastern Canada than to the Southern US.

8. D'oh can't edit to chang Canadadian to Candian!
Shouldn't Canadians be from Canadia? But then again I suppose that Canadadians would be from Canadadia. Oh well, since I can't edit I guess I'll steal a line from Luther and say: Here I stand, I can do no other (especially not an edit)

10. Mmmmm.... Tim Horton's!!!
We are lucky enough to be blessed with a Tim Horton's right here in Ohio. Yummy delish!

And, Dunkin' Donuts kicks Krispy Kreme's ass. Chocolate Glazed Cake Donuts... like crack to me.

Whenever I drive through Ohio I'm happy to see the Tim Horton's by exit 36 because it means I'm about half way done. I often stop for some gas and some grub

16. Aww darlin'
We southerners would love for you to have some of our wonderful products. Y'all come on down and I'll personally get you a fresh, yummy plain glazed fresh off the line....

And we're not fat, we're just big boned (although I prefer the term Rubenesque).

25. Thanks but no thanks
And I wasn't saying Southerners are fat. I'm just saying that KK donuts bring up a mental image of some backwoods sheriff clocking cars and scarfing down donuts and just waiting to arrest some "outside agitators"

28. Oh I know
I was just kiddin' with ya. I forgot to put in a little smiley.

But gotta disagree on the KK donuts. I guess it's because we're brought up on them. We have Coke (classic, not that New Coke crap) and KK donuts running through our veins.

They slide right down your throat when they are right off the production line.

Don't ever drive through when the "Hot" sign is on.

22. The bloom is off the KrispyKreme rose...
My 2 cents: KK is like the Coors Beer of the 60's and 70's: When it was sold only West of the Mississippi, EVERYONE wanted it in the East. Once it went national, it wasn't so desirable.

Earnings Not So Sweet for Krispy Kreme

Snip:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. on Thursday said its quarterly profit tumbled by more than half and slashed its sales growth outlook for the rest of the year, wiping 17 percent off the value of its stock.

Aside from investors' fears that the chain has expanded too quickly, Krispy Kreme has also been assailed by the growing popularity of low-carbohydrate diets, reduced customer traffic and higher costs, Livengood said.

And while Krispy Kreme doughnuts are sold at Wal-Mart Inc., Livengood -- a 27-year veteran at the company -- told analysts on a conference call that the discounter is taking market share from mainstream grocers who are the key sellers of Krispy Kreme.

Moreover, he said top U.S. grocer Kroger Co. has replaced Krispy Kreme doughnuts at some of its stores with Kroger's branded fare, possibly to boost gross margins.

"I hope ... it's not a trend," Livengood said.

30. Fat Bombs...
17 to 24 grams of fat in each one...I don't think they're any worse than Village Pantry donuts in that department, but I can't eat 1/2 a dozen of any donut anymore...

Guilty pleasure. I allow myself one for every 50 miles I ride...
