Yes, Mel Gibson has found yet another way to profit off of the radically-religious freaks who have no sense of good taste. Take a look at what else he has to offer: http://www.sharethepassionofthechrist.com/jewelry.asp

18. There's nothing wrong with "WWJD" jewelry...
We could all use a little reminder of that. It's just that Dubya is a hypocrite in his religious references, as well as those who can't recognize a loser when they see one & want him to stay in the WH.

37. Where the movie's merchandising is concerned, I agree.
I always did like the idea of the WWJD jewelry, though. Odd thing is, before knowing that this concept was already in the mainstream, I thought about having a jeweler engrave it on a bracelet for me, as a reminder to treat others as I'd like to be treated. I'm not a churchgoer, but I do try to be a good person.

38. There's a difference
Slash films are the bloody "horror" films like "Friday the 13th." Snuff films are those where someone is murdered on film -- for pretend or for real.

(See "Videodrome" for a CHILLING film about snuff films."

still giving to the pockets of the right wing? I agree Gibson is homophobic and a cultist, and therefore to buy his movie would be providing aid to causes he believes in. But doesn't buying "Passion of the Jew" also give money to causes that are non-liberal?

36. I think so...
Most likely. If the violence in Saving private Ryan didn't affect my Psyche, I doubt this will. Seems all the protestations about it affected me the same way that they did re: The Last Temptation of Christ, i.e.- it makes me curious to see it.

I'm kinda lucky in the respect that I believe the writer/director/actor/singer/artists politics/religion/orientations are irrelevant to the body of work they produce :)

39. No, I'd be much more inclined to see a film about Jesus...
...than a sleazy S&M snuff film about how he was tortured and killed "because of the Jews".

The funny thing about those who blame the Jews for Christ's death -

If they were responsible, shouldn't you be eternally grateful to them? After all, Jesus saved us all up there on the cross. If he hadn't been crucified, the world would still be damned, right?

45. Absolutely not. It's been politicized into selling one form of Christianity
A rather brutal form at that, and I do not wish to participate in enabling it by spending any money on it.

This movie is the product of a mind that believes physical torment and suffering are equivalent to grace. I reject that notion.

46. Yep, sure am.
I love good filmmaking. I may not believe everything in the Passion, but it's just a movie to me. I could care less what other people think about the movie. It's all about me, me, ME!! If it's controversial, it's for me.

I've seen worse violence in horror movies. I'm not a squeamish person.
