Poll question: Least favorite decade for music
I'd say 90s because I'm just not a Britney, BSB, 'N Sync, Celine, or Mariah fan - and they were very popular. Still, the 90s had a lot I enjoyed.

1. Tough Answer
See, i'm not partial to pop music of the 50's, but that was the postbop and cool jazz era, and i love both of those genres.

I'm not a fan of pop music of the 40's, but i like the instrumental swing stuff.

I'm not a fan of the regurgitated polish-pop of the late 90's, but there was certainly some good music in that period.

So, i had to pick "i like all" because there is something in every era i like. If forced to pick one era where the music (all genres) was least interesting though, it would be the 90's.

2. Yes, but the question
is just to choose your least favorite; not the one you hate! I think all decades had something good going, but I chose the 80's as my least favorite, that's all...

:hi:

3. I hated the Album Oriented Rock and Disco of the '70s
but loved the Punk Rock. I hated a lot of '80s stuff too, but there was a ton of great alternative bands during that decade. I chose the '70s.

It's funny, because when I now hear disco, I sing along with it. Talk about mellowing as you get older...

4. Such a difficult choice....
I selected the 1950s...oh that music makes me sick but so does much of the current pop music and that from the 1990s.

I pretty much stopped listening to pop music in the 1980s because it all started to sound alike with the synthesizers and drum machines.

I also didn't like the corporate rock of the 80s.

5. Every decade had something which saved it musically
The Beatles, Dylan, and the Stones saved us from Fabian, Pat Boone and other plastic idols.

Zeppelin and Pink Floyd saved us from the "mellow to the point of narcolepsy" singer-songwriters of the 70's.

Van Halen & the Punks saved us from Disco.

Sub-Pop and all their offshoots (Seattle - I refuse to use the "G" word) saved us from Hair Band Cheese Ballads.

Now we are in Boy Band/Britney/Recycled Rap Hell, three years into this decade, and nobody yet is making any new music worth a shit.

7. 1990's
Was there anything good to listen to?

Really crappy pop, way too much depressing alternative, almost no mainstream rock, and also very crappy hip-hop and r&b.

8. I liked some things in rock, country, and alternative

It's much of the pop and hip-hop I didn't like.

9. Anything after 1974
Born to Run was the last great rock album.

Yeah, I know, I'm a geezer. But with a few exceptions, pretty much everything since has been mediocre at best.

And whatever happened to great guitar playing? Seems like the new stuff is nothing more than a lot of power chords and heavy distortion.

13. Power pop uses power chords
And I'm a fan of that. From Cheap Trick to The Cars to Kay Hanley.

12. I think the 00s have been an improvement
over the 1990s. Better pop, and more kinds of artists getting some recognition.

14. Easily the 50's...
I love when people complain about today's pop music as being plastic and overproduced, then proceed to rave about 50's artists, who LITERALLY all sounded exactly the same.

When I go to hell (and I am), I'll be forced to listen to oldies radio for all eternity.
