Anyone here seen "Canadian Bacon"? (movie)
The SO and I watched it last night. We had never seen it.
Boy, is it ever weird to watch in a post- 9/11, Iraq war world!
So many little things in that movie ended up happening that it's almost scary!

It's really not all that great of a movie, but it shows that even when Michael Moore does a "bad" movie, he's still got a lot of insight!

1. I thought it was a great movie!
But then I live in Buffalo, right next door to Niagara Falls - so I'm sort of biased.

I think it was a good portrayal of the local economics & people. Yes, we do drink a lot of beer. Yes, we do bitch about the Canadians (just as they do about us.) And yes, we do like hockey.

I can tell you, not much has changed in the last 10 years - and its gotten significantly worse in the last four. If anything Michael Moore is a prophet.

2. I thought it was funny too
years ago when I saw it. It might not be as funny now, as you mentioned there are some parallels to today.

4. Canadians: They walk among us.
Overall, I thought it didn't hold together too well as a whole, but there are some great moments, like the anti-Canadian propaganda, and when Dan Aykroyd, as the Canadian motorcycle cop, requires the guys to duplicate all the anti-Canadian graffiti on their vehicle in French. ("We mustn't forget les Quebecois!")

:D

Mange mes shorts!

On Edit: that was how it was written in the movie, however the imperative form would probably more correctly be: Mangez mes shorts!

But someone with more knowledge of French could comment better. And also, something tells me the characters wouldn't be French experts anyway.
