If you're looking to build a PC in the near future, give the asus
a7n8x-e deluxe a good look. setting up a PC for a co-worker, and let me tell you I'm extremely envious of this man's computer. mainly because of the mother board.

features:
accepts all AMD processors
on board video
on board audio (6.1)
on board IEEE 1394
on board sata
on board lan (gigabit)

damn, this board is tight my friends, tight. and it's around $120.00 hmmmmmmmmm!

2. I have the A7N8X Deluxe rev2.0
(without the -e) and it does have great features, but it's been nothing but trouble running my hardware. My DV-500 video capture card and Emu 1820m pro sound card don't work at all. Granted, they're not the most common cards in the world, but they're both trash at this point, $1200 worth. The onboard SATA is also very unreliable, I'm just about ready to buy a separate SATA card to get rid of the problems. Maybe the -e part solves these problems?

3. really, man this setup has been one of my easist ever.
everything has worked to perfection. I'm not installing any sata drives but everything else has worked great.

amd 2800 cpu
gainward nvida fx-5700LE video card
1 gig of ddr memory
80 gig western digital
12x dvd+ - RW
52x cd-rom
the thing even has dual gigabit lan ports. wow!!

I'm going to slap doom3 on it so I can check out the video card, before I take it to it's daddy.

7. Emu is hard at work fixing the problem
AND I just updated my bios to an unreleased version, "1008Uber" and it seemed to fix the problem to an acceptable level. My post is on the Emu forum: http://www.productionforums.com/emu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1117

5. Had the one without the "-e" for a while, gave it up for an Abit NF7-S
Which worked better for my setup (with phase-change cooling, etc.).

It's worth noting that it will NOT work with ALL AMD processors. Only the Socket-A processors. The newer Athlon-64 chips will NOT work in that board.

For standard use, they are fantastic boards, no doubt about it. I just overclock A LOT (have a 1.4 ghz chip running at 2.7 right now, and the cpu temp is a chilly -20 C :)).

If it wasn't for the rest of the system, I probably would have kept the Asus.

Asus and Abit are usually the first two companies I look at when building a new system.

13. No problem :)
I agree with your recommendation of the mobo though.

Another similar board (though lacking the SATA) is the Abit NF7-M (which has the on-board video, and the same excellent sound chip).

I've built quite a few systems for friends using both :).

8. I built mine with an Asus
A7V8X-X in it. It works pretty smoothly, but I'll be upgradinfg before too long, due to the memory restrictions, and I want an onboard IEEE 1394 and SATA, so I can add a couple more hard drives, since my IDE slots are all used up. I'll probably stick with ASUS, just go up to VIA KT800 Northbridge. Asus is a good way to go, for sure.

Great board. Built my own system and have been really happy with it. ASUS makes good stuff.

10. so THAT's where my board went
I have been looking all over for that thing. When do you think you can have it back to me???

Seriously, P48SX is a great board. Have had ZERO problems with it and I am the sort that is always swapping out something or other. Rock solid...
