Poll question: Do you have 'the asshole powertools neighbor' nearby?
Introducing asshole powertool neighbor number1.

Asshole Powertools Neighbor Number 1 lives on the even side of the road, and is frequently seen in his rinkydink workshop creating decibels.

Coming up, Asshole Powertools Neighbor Number 2 who started the volley this morning by climbing into his tree with a chainsaw will respond to the metal grinding by his interpretation of the Indy 500 on a riding mower.

Now, while I'm tempted to pull his feet from under him and have his face go smashing into the spinning grinder, I'll just vent on the internet like a good like psychotic attic dweller.

1. No, but I have "Assholes with Harley Davidsons" in the 'hood
The one right next door is pretty good about keeping it down, but the one around the corner ... sheesh. I can't wait until it's cold enough that the bike disappears, but not cold enough for snow ... when he'll be "fixing" his f-in snowmobile all the time.

And don't even get me started on the kid on the other side with the 4-wheeler that he rides on his lawn.

12. I have the Harley Davidson guy on one side and
asshole power tool guy across the street. He gets old pallets from behind Dumpsters, then cuts them up for firewood on his table saw for fucking hours on end. Then he burns them in his fireplace, even in the summer in his air conditioned house, because he likes the ambience of the fire. While the Harley is much louder, he only idles it for a couple of minutes before roaring off.

2. No, I have the 'asshole that owns rental property and hires people with
power tools that start working at 6:30 a.m.' guy across the street from me. And unfortunately the house that they're always working on is right next door to the south. And there isn't that much room between house, either. So when they were tearing up the concrete in the driveway, it was like they were sledging it out in my dining room.

3. Every other house here has a motorcycle
They tinker with them, rev the motor and then test drive them up and down the street.

Then there are the kids with the scooters with the little 2 stroke motors. They change out the mufflers to get more speed and a particularly anoying sound.

Fortunately, it is over 100 degrees every day this time of year so its been pretty quiet lately but for 9 months of the year I have to get used to the noise.

4. Here in rural RURAL America
Hell that's everybody. Four wheelers, motorcycles, race cars, go-carts, tractors goin' down the street, combines, and they are absolutely OBSESSED with mowing lawns and ditches.

The worst time of year is yet to come and that is harvest time. Most farmers have day jobs so when do they go out in the fields to harvest? Yep, midnight x( and how do they get their noisy tractors and equipment from their place to their fields? Yep, up and down the neighborhood streets x(

AH, But ain't that America, for you and me.
Ain't that America, it's something to see.
;-)

5. I have a guy right nextdoor...
Can't complain though... (well, the time he was cutting & replacing his gutters and downspouts was pretty noisy)

He's also the kind that lets me borrow his tools and volunteers to help start new projects for me. (uh, no thanks, I don't really need to dig a well to water my lawn)

7. Hmmm...I'm not sure about how you grew up...
but for me power tools were a part of our way of life. My parents never really had very much money for things so almost every present we ever got was homemade. My dad would be outside in his shop until the wee hours of the morning making me things. A cradle for my dolls, a huge barbie house, a gun rack for my brothers.

It was a rare time when dad didn't have his chainsaw out 2 or 3 times a week, cutting wood to heat the house.

Sure, these tools made quite a racket, but they also saved my parents tons of money that we really did not have. I thank God that they had the opportunity to own the tools that helped them survive when we were younger...

Who knows... just my two cents.

8. Most obscene power tool:
That f&*%king leaf blower. Either sweep it up or let it stay on the ground, but don't ruin my hearing over it!

10. guilty
loud as$ diesel and motorcycle..but neighbor has matching lawnmowers for him and wife and they mow every other day...together.

Always know when it has snowed as he's out there at 4am with the blower. Very anal rententive types...gave me a tour of home showing off closet contents with hangers exactly 1/2 inch apart.

yes I'm sure that he is "that" neighbor. But he does try to wait until late morning before he does any loud work.

14. My chief complaint is Sunday. Make all the noise you want Saturday
but for christ's sake, give us a single day of peace and quiet.

It's good for the soul.

15. LOL!! Across the street...
Across the street from us is a guy who wheels out his table saw to the drive way and cuts for hours. I don't quite understand him wheeling it out of the garage where he could do all the cutting. This is in a very quiet (too quiet at time) neighborhood.

I think he's just an attention whore.. like LOOK AT ME I'M CUTTING WOOD!!! ZZZerrrrrrrrrzerrrrrrrzerrrrrrrrrrrrawwwwwww
