How many here are paid to post ?

Not to be rude, but I’m curious.

I’ve seen them hawk everything on this board from pharmaceuticals to movies to rightwing talk show host (even bad chatter is good for ratings) and books etc. and then I look at the post count. How does one person possibly have 20 to 30 thousand post in a two to three year period and still have time to work and have a life. The only conclusion that I can come to, as I am sure other people have, is that all is not as it appears. The only way that I’d have time for that many post is if someone paid me to do it. IMHO

If I'm wrong just yell at me don't kick me out. I'm a newbie to this sort of thing, so please be kind.

The government thinks I'm an air traffic controller. They let me talk to airplanes and everything. If you believe some of the folks in the 9/11 Forum here at DU, however, I'm a paid "PR flack" spreading disinformation.

I'd bet less that 1% of the people are consultants/media people who get paid for the time they spend here.

But I'm at a computer all day (Mostly) so I have DU minimized most of the time. ANd every 20 minutes or so I go back on.

They really have to work too hard for the money. I guess I got lucky, since I receive $75.00 per post. It allows me to keep my post count pretty low so as not to raise suspicion, and it leaves plenty of time for me to moonlight at my day job.

Almost forgot to mention, I'm paid by a consortium of lobbies, mostly from the multivitamin and exotic bird importation industries.

Where have you seen people hawk anything here? Sure, we get the occasional gold salesman and once there was some guy pitching George Bush dolls ... but 99.9% of the peeps here don't post for greed.

It is possible to post several thousand within a few years because DU is very addicting. I started 11 months ago and I'm up to 3274 (I post something at least 5-10 times a day.)

I've often wondered what some people do to get that many posts. I remember watching someone be welcomed to DU, then a month later they have 5000 posts. Blows my mind, but not impossible.

I've been here forever, and it seems like I post a lot. My wife claims I'm here all the time. So, taking that into account, I don't know how they do it, but I don't think they're doing anything wrong.

23. You are correct - those lightly employed for economic or health

or type of job (my reason) or being post-retirement age are able to run up large numbers.

And for at least myself, posting is an exercise in Sanity maintenance and anger management - and perhaps I need a higher dose of DU Prozac than most folks.

And again, one of my reasons for the high post number - I hate the GOP lies and the liar Bush, and my life has been lived close to these GOP liars - and I want tell on them so that they will not destroy the lives of my grandchildren!

So in my case, it is a bit of motivation, a bit self-delusion that one has something to add, and a bit of opportunity!
