Today's Customer Service Horror Story (warning: racist words)

A guy asks me where the crowbars are. I take him to them.

"What are you gonna pry up with the crowbar?" He was trying to tear the roof on a rental property apart, so in addition to the crowbar, I got him a shingle shovel.

I had to go out to the loading dock to get something when I see the guy walk out the door. He sees the ex-tenant from the house he's trying to tear the roof off.

He throws the shingle shovel at this guy as hard as he can. It misses its intended target and takes out the windshield of an innocent bystander's truck.

"YOU FUCKING NIGGER! SET MY FUCKIN HOUSE ON FIRE! I'LL KILL YOUR NIGGER ASS!"

O shit.

The ex-tenant was calm and rational: "KEEP MY MOTHERFUCKING SECURITY DEPOSIT, WILL YOU? I'LL CUT YOU UP, MOTHERFUCKER! AND DON'T NEVER CALL ME A MOTHERFUCKIN' NIGGER, MOTHERFUCKER." And he pulls a knife.

What else could I do but respond as if it was an ambush. I took cover behind a stack of landscape timbers, pulled out my cell phone and called the manager. "Ralph, this is Jim. I'm on the loading dock. Call the police right now, there are two guys out here. One has a crowbar, the other has a knife and they're trying to kill each other."

Fortunately, twelve cops came and took them away very quickly.

On edit: thinking back, the black guy's comment had to be one of the more humorous stupid statements I've heard this year--he set the dude's house on fire and STILL wants his security deposit back?

5. We found the owner

We called our insurance desk, they said to just call Allstate Glass and have them come to the store and install a new windshield.

9. I work for The Home Depot

We at least attempt to take care of our customers.

Here's one you'll like. One of my guys told me about this freeper we had in on Sunday. (I asked the associate how he knew the customer was a freeper. "Because he told us it was okay to tear the shit out of his trailer, just so long as we didn't mess up the Bush bumper stickers on the back of it.") The freeper showed up with a solid-axle 1500-lb capacity one-axle 12-foot trailer being towed by an S-10 and proceeded to load two tons of building materials onto it. My guy told him over and over that it wasn't gonna hold. "It'll hold." My guy made the freeper sign a release stating that we told him he was being a dumb-ass. The freeper then jumped into his pickup, roared off in a rage--no damn Home Depot moron is gonna tell ME what my trailer can hold!--got almost to the light...both wheels sheared off at the hubs. My guy drove down on a forklift, retrieved all of the materials and brought them back under cover for him. "Gee, I think I'll go get my other trailer. I'll be back shortly." He came back twenty minutes later in a Ford F-350 towing this huge trailer that he carries his 10,000-lb backhoe around on. Let's see...the guy lives 10 minutes away from the store, he knew what he was going to buy--you don't buy two tons of building materials on impulse--and he still tries moving it on this dinky little trailer. Question for today: What's this guy's FR post count?
