6. Would you happen to know if the manual face wire winches for
an older river towboat were angled towards the cable fairleads OR oriented straight
fore and aft? I am thinking angled. Got a model in progress.

they are kind of like manual barge winches used for towlines on a pushboat.
They served to tighten the facewires that made up to the tow.
