What is your *least* favorite country?
(besides the US) I'd say Fiji. Not that I have anything against the island nation of Fiji, but I had to figure out what it represents in "The Truman Show" when I was writing a paper on it. (The movie, not the island; this was for Sociology)

16. You should visit China some time.
It's not scary at all, apart from the motorcycles doing 50 mph on the sidewalks and the PSB guard booths on every block. :-)

Seriously though, I was a bit nervous about moving here, but it has surpassed my expectations on every single point.

Everything you think is true about China, is probably more true about North Korea. North Korea would scare the piss out of me.

In terms of countries I've visited, I don't have a least favorite. They were all great.

Countries you couldn't pay me to visit: Saudi Arabia, Iraq (for the moment anyway) and North Korea.

and horse racing, etc.

On the other hand, I have a big mouth and the odds would be pretty strong I'd end up stoned to death.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 02:30 AM by mahayasmellbad
the president of THE MARTHA FUCKING STEWART FAN CLUB was interviewed on the BBC and told the interviewer, "Just like the British have Queen Elizabeth, we in America have Martha Stewart...except Martha Stewart actually has a job!"

This guy totally needed to get punched in the mouth

23. Sorry, wolf, but I find that a tad racist.
Yes, big city folk in France can be brusque and impatient. But I've seen some pretty provocative behaviour, not least by English speaking folk who seem to take it as a personal insult that, when in France, they're expected to communicate in French.

And much as I love NYC, I don't always find everyone there exuding the milk of human kindness towards visitors.

24. Yeah, French piss me off when they refuse to learn languages
Chamonix's youth hostel made me hostile.
English - "no, no, no"
Deutsch - "no, no, no"
A youth hostel should at least have someone speaking English. I went snowboarding in Austria instead.

Why people won't speak languages:
Americans - no knowledge other countries exist
Italians - never learned it in school
French - just to be assholes (after all everyone in the world should have to learn French)

You'll get French that actually do speak another language refusing to, just to be mean. I have friends in Paris. I was going to learn French next, but now I'm making a point of it to learn Spanish instead. It's easier anyway.

and nobody spoke English and nobody spoke French and it was a damn good job I spoke some German.

Or maybe I should have tried Spanish?

17. Hey, Austria is a beautiful country
Unfortunately, there are a lot of really strange neo-cons living there. :scared:

Then again, my homestay was with pretty rich private-school types (my host family owned a 4 star Apartment-Pension...), so my views may be a little skewed.

Wow .. tough one .. I guess I've always had it in for China (Get your ass OUT of Tibet!) and possibly Colombia (stop producing cocaine and kidnapping people).

Sweden is evil, by the way. No doubt about it. Being a Norwegian, I should know. Luckily we are up-wind :) I kid the Swedes! Söta bror!
